this took too long OTL. I was planning on submitting this for a contest but i didn't make it my OCD wouldn't allow me to. I tried not to cut so many corners but it was taking so long so i used a few textures for the scales, bg, jewelry, and some for the mermaid's kimono. This was intended to be a personification of the color Turquoise, turquoise surprisingly isn't my favorite color but its more of a lucky color for me. Originally i was going to do something either native american or middle eastern since turquoise is found among those areas but it just took on a life of its own. So here's a painting of a sea maiden with her koi dragon sea god husband, he dose have a more human-esque form and when i'm feeling more ambitious i may draw him
