I have no idea what the joke is but I do agree that the colossi REALLY should move around more. God knows how bored they are in those confined spaces of theirs. How often do they visit each other? More importantly, why is their prison so bloody large?

I was waiting to see if another viewer might reply to you with their thoughts on the comic, but I guess I will answer. I don't know that there is a -joke- here, really. It's just a cute play on the dual meanings of the word "shadow" that made me smile when I thought of it.
