my favorite color combination pairs blue with orange perfectly complimentary to one another

the texture and detail of the fruit adds to this very balanced work nice

Thank you, well the background was actually grey, Capture NX helped me there.

You got it right, using the complimentary color was what I tried to archive, if you can edit the colors afterwards in post processing everythings gets so much easier

if you edit the color like that don't you have to put the image in a manipulation category rather than photography?

just wondering

Nah, I didn't manipulate much, I just changes the tonality of the plain grey background to a plain blue, it's a minor edit that is pretty common with most water-scape pics you will see

gotcha - thanks

not at all. Well I think you can call it photo manipulation if there is something that really isn't looking natural anymore, but as long as no one can tell, it's just a minor edit. For example, blue water could have been blue, that's nothing strange about it, would it be red however, then if would be a clear manipulation. Also my mandarin here, if I'd just put a blue sheet of paper below it, then it would have had the same effect, but I didn't had one ^^

okay dokey

i'm an illustrator you see and have never been very clear about what constituted a manipulation in photography

i appreciate your helping me understand what's what

you're welcome, I'm confused where to submit my stuff too from time to time, but as long as it still looks natural I'd call it a minor edit

Really nice, and i almost agree with you, best fruit in the world.

Cant help but think that if you crop the right just that little bit off might make it stand out a touch more!

Seems a bit of "wasted space" showing the middle bit of the fruit so much!

Thanks!

Yeah I don't know, I thought about cutting it that way at first, but then there was so much blue space on the left side and cropping more didn't seem right somehow...

Simplest way to see which looks best, do one both ways and see!

Yeah I think so, well I'll take another one someday(I guess when I get that 250D Diopter that has twice the magnification of the 500D I used here) and i'll think about a better crop then ^^
