looks like you've got the gyst/idea of the shading pretty nicely, you just need to push it a little further. More shading, darker darks. Creating more contrast will give you a more dimensional image.
Your characters look really nice

This looks like it's coming along nicely! For shading, pick one or two (one would probably be best for now) definite light source and if you can make a copy so you don't ruin the original lineart until you've decided what you're doing, then you can block out the parts. First, you'll have the highlights. What will the light hit exactly? Keep these areas clean of any pencil marks so you keep the white from the paper. Then you need what will be completely blocked from the light. These will be in the darkest shade, and will be the darkest on your paper. You'll then have the mediums where the light will gradually fade to shadow. In these areas, you can use a blender like a paper stomp or tissue paper to get that gradual effect. Try and keep the shading textures different between the skin tones and clothing, because the light will hit them differently. Hope this helps!

Thanks, you're totally right though. His nose does look a bit off, I'm okay with it though. I'm afriad if I erase it and do it over then it will just look worse. haha

Thank you so much! I'm not familiar with the term "cross hatching" what does this mean?

Oh I see what you mean. I didn't know there was a name for that! haha, I usually don't cross-hatch but every once in a while I do, I like the look of it.
