Which book does Petty Differences feature in? I'd forgotten Lalcan altogether. He's very anthropomorhic for a Culture drone. This is my portrait of Skaffen-Amtiskaw [link] from Use of Weapons. Note the shoulder tabs and fancy camo-capable aura field. Skaffen-Amtiskaw is SC and therefore likely to be ex-military.

The drone and ship names are my own (as far as I remember). This is, unintentionally, a very flattering comment!
Goodbye, and thanks, Mr. Banks.

I LOVE The Culture, and like Unaha-Closp, the first Drone I ever met, I'd like to JOIN. Unaha-Closp was 'Shanghaid' by Hora Borza Gobachul the Changer mercenary freelancing for the Idirans in the Idiran-Culture Wars. He'd been repairing the Clear Air Turbulence and stayed with the ship on it's journey to Schar's World. The Culture SC agent Perostek Balveda... but that would be spoiling things for you.

I love the Culture novels and I have to say that this is almost exactly how I imagined a drone to look.
Much respect
