Well at first I made the Outlines on the Lineout Layer and with the curve tool. Because with this you can change your outlines till they look perfect and then make a new layer and colour all

Well did you work with you mouse or with a grafic tablet? BEcause shadows with the mouse is very difficult, I know it myself XD
Thats the reason why I bought a grafic tablet And it works asbsolut great ^-^

Yeah thats probably one reason why the shadows dont work so well XD I have the same experiences with my actuall Luffy Pic But now I have my grafic tablet (a bamboo from wacom *love it *) everything is really easy and the shades look great ^-^
The only reason why its not finished yet is because I HATE drawing backgrounds XD lol

Oh well, just put it there where you think it is right Its the same like I do. You have to think about where the sun is and then start with the hair, I mean the shadows from the hair in the face, so you know on wich side you have to add a shadow and then make it intuitive.
Well thats how I add the shadows.
