Description The SMR was Developed by the Austrian's at Steyr Mannlicher GmbH & Co KG who were in need of a standard assault rifle to replace the AUG. It features a new smart gas operating system that uses the exact amount of the combustion force to load the next round and fire it, this system also has small wholes in the barrel on the top which allow it to control the muzzle climb as well as wholes around the circumference of the muzzle to control gun recoil. however it does hold a complicated computer system, the designers were stressed to make it more durable and reliable than any other rifle in existence. Where most rifles will jam around 300-1000 times every 10000 shots, the SMR was put through a 25000 round test with only 3 minor malfunctions, and these were caused by slightly deformed bullets, not the gun itself. Along with reliability, it is also durable, capable of taking on a 9mm round with only minor cracks in the ultra-dense carbon composite plastics (excluding the most of the scope and trigger part). The round used is a standard 7.62 NATO round.

I thought from the 3D model there must be a PMG prototype again!
Have you seen the Flickr group? [link] there are a lot of GREAT designs there, and a lot of designers who would love to see their stuff in 3D, as long as they get credits (including me)
