I think mushroom is quite typical autumn harvest, atleast here.This will probably be one of emotes for Autumn Grand Master contest: [link]
I put it here before submitting in contest category, so you could make critique and suggestions how to make it better.

I would almost say that I'd like to see a cooler shade for the smiley, to make the mushroom stand out more, but I also like the overall tonal appearance (in Fall-ish colors, no less) of it as it is.

Could you be more specific, what do you don't like about growing? I didn't have any references, how mushrooms really grow. I know I made it faster than in real life, but that was made in purpose.

I didn't want that mushroom growing takes too much time. Emotes are meant to quickly express idea. Even in some nature documents there are plants shown growing in fastmotion.

Well, needless to say, I love it. The motion of the mushroom when it gets picked is particularly great, and very much a signature of your talent with bouncing/stretching movements.
My one critique would be that the proportions of the grown mushroom are slightly off -- the base is too wide for the top -- so it looks a bit like a muffin instead of a shroom. Perhaps you could thin down the stalk, or make it taller and thinner?
I'm delighted you kept the cap the buff color most mushrooms actually are instead of the red with white spots which is traditional in cartoons (and Mario), but that also means it doesn't have the instant recognizability. That's why the shape and proportion take on greater importance.

I thinned down stalk and it now looks better. Thinning made also growing bit smoother I think.
I thought about white spots, but I think many whitespotted mushrooms are toadstools aka fly mushrooms, which are poisonous. I am not very good mushroom expert thought.

It's perfect. I agree with you that the thinner stalk makes for smoother growth as well as a more mushroomy proportion. You're probably right about the spots too, which would explain why all the mushrooms I've ever eaten have been a solid beige or brown.
