I am not a fan of leg mechs for numerous reasons.
1 stability issues. A less powerful main cannon in comparison to wheeled or tracked counterparts, and less effective armor for realism purposes.
2 complexity of repair.
3 Limited combat options.
I say give it a means to engage in CQC and I will not have much to complain about. The design concept is not bad though.

Metal gear popularized this type of mech.
Honestly I say if you are going to make a mech with legs, give it arms. A heavy gear is only 5 meters tall and they are well done.
