Some fan-art for the upcoming Epic Mickey. I wasn't too interested in the game and was never a big Mickey fan but after seeing a developer video where Warren Spector was talking about the world he's made I fell in love. The guy sounded so enthusiastic, so in love, and so full of magic that I was since then drawn to the game and am compelled to play it.Games these days, in my view, lack a lot of magic games of latter consoles provided. It's all about bullets, violence and action now. I love adventure and Epic Mickey is all about that.
This art is full of flaws but it'll do for now. Might do some more after the game is released.
Completed in about 2 hours, hand drawing of Mickey scanned into the comp and coloured then desaturated and Photoshopped for effect.
Sidenote: I was going to have silhouette of characters from the game appear in the paint-stream but thought it was too distracting from the minimalist nature of the drawing.

That's very nice of you to say, thank you!! I should see if I can send it through to the development team or Mr Spector. I remember there was this game I bought a long time ago which came with a booklet with fan-art in it, thought that was pretty neat.

There are some very brief notes below the image but they're probably not very clear (my fault). What I did is do a pencil sketch of Mickey and then inked the outlines. Used a normal eraser to get rid of the pencil lines then scanned the image into the comp.
I would usually then redraw the image in the comp but decided to use the levels adjuster instead to get outlines. I coloured the image then, added shading and created the background fully in Photoshop.
I then duplicated the coloured Micky and deleted everything aside from the brush and his forearm/hand. The paint stream is two different parts, one in the film and one out.
I then merged all layers except the outside paint stream and the coloured hand and desaturated the merged layer to get it black and white. Then started adding grain effects etc to make it look like an old film.
Last thing I did was add the reel/frame and duplicate the main image and add it below to look like the next frame in the film. There was more stuff, but that's the jist of it. Hope it helps explain it a bit more!
