"Ah yes! The old story of Husky Charlie. Quite the terrifying tale if you ask me and yet told to all the kids on Christmas Eve. This is indeed weird but remember your younger self, can you not relate to that sensation of genuine interest for the things that should never be told to kids? Scary and spooky stories that enlighten every night of festivities. I know I was eager to hear them but regret that choice in minutes following the extinction of every lights. Anyway..Husky Charlie. A man like any other, grumpy and unkind, centered on himself and striving for his own happiness. A selfishness that lead him to make quite the mistake, he dared to steal from Granny Gaudry! Do you what happened then? She placed a cursed on the lonely and naughty man, one that always makes me feel itchy. His old and smooth skin turned rough and dry, like mud under the summer sun. And as the days went by, the cracks became holes revealing his bones already riddled with holes themselves! Could you imagine feeling the wind blowing through these? Always cold. But there was worse than this. Yes. The holes became opened doors for all the insects that lived in old Charlie's house. I leave the rest to your imagination.."
A little poem was written about this story by the children of the school in which I teach. It goes like this:
"Husky Charlie, Husky Charlie
Should have never made angry the old Granny. A spell was cast to punish this naughty sack of skin. For eternity he was condemned to look husky. Alive and yet a crumbling pile of rotting skin.
Husky Charlie, Husky Charlie
Never found the courage for an apology to the old lady. Opened his body to legions of vermins to get in. Haunted by a nightmarish imagery of insects getting in and out of his every artery. Laying eggs behind his malignant brain devoided of humanity.
