Description

The United States appear to be destined by Providence to plague America with misery in the name of liberty.

When you're safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you're having an adventure you wish you were safe at home. There is a magic in that little world, home; it is a mystic circle that surrounds comforts and virtues never known beyond its hallowed limits because A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.

مفقود هل تتحول من الألم لمتعة،
إذا كنت أعرف كنت في عداد المفقودين لي جدا.

Simply one of those perfect moments, this photo grabbed my attention straight away, its simplicity of focus, the beautiful colour pallet, the stunning lighting, and nigh controversial content.
firstly the composition: the movement of the figure is captured perfectly, the slight turn of the head revealing a young face; keeping the figure in the center and having a short-ish depth of field so that the background fades out is a very subtle effective was of drawing our attention to the focus of the shot, said figure.
the lighting and minimal colour pallet creates an incredible mood within the piece, i get a sense that it is late afternoon, in autumn, getting colder, and that the soldier might be tired or going back to where he came from.
a very poignant, effective, striking piece.

"The United States appear to be destined by Providence to plague America with misery in the name of liberty."

In other words, God has set America on the path to misery?

For a guy who dresses up in costumes and takes pictures of himself, you sure make a lot of self-important, unqualified statements.

My vision was to let you create your own story for this photograph. Wether this man is returning home from a long deployment, Maybe he has been died from a roadside bomb and is returning to peace, His HomE. Or maybe is sti'll walking the streets of Baghdad and remembering his neighborhood.

Beautiful shot. Brought tears to my eyes. My husband is in the military, so I know that feeling of being home and not knowing for sure if he'll be back again.
I'm going to assume from the fact that it says self portrait, and what your description says, that this is you. So, as much as I wish it wasn't this way, thank you for what you've done.
