His familiar, that he gently calls Clara, looks like a semi-amorphic creature made of some black fluid matter. While it has a certain shape, it still can change it’s appearance slightly, growing and stretching additional limbs and, sometimes, spikes. The number of limbs it grows is limited to 12 at max and it can't stretch them longer than 15 metres. While main qualities of this familiar are it’s shape-shifting ability, as well as strengths and agility, it also has a minor magical ability to place a curse on living beings. The curse causes fever and a feeling of sickness and may become lethal if kept untreated for several days. However, it can be easily removed by healing magic.
Occupation: Scientist, Biologist, Naturalist
City: Koben (though he can often be found travelling around the Empire for his scientific research or for personal reasons)
Allegiance: Koben Empire
Personality:
Collected/ mostly apathetic/ curious/ challenging/ demanding/ possessive/ intelligent/ sarcastic/ ambitious/ blunt at speaking out his thoughts/ megalomaniac/
Milos’ personality is rather contradictory: on one hand, he’s a restless researcher, stopping before nothing to get more knowledge in the field of his interest. He is curious about the world around him and is eager on finding out how the forces of nature work and how living things manage to coexist with such a raw force. Things that he does not understand allure him and keep him occupied until he learns everything about them. And once one research is over, Milos easily finds another thing to become fanatic about. The man experiences a great need in knowledge, as well as in sharing the knowledge he gained with the world. However, he presents the resuts of his work not with the goal of enlightning the world, but rather with the aim of demonstrating his success.
In his searches for knowledge he becomes selfish and apathetic towards the social world around him, which bring outs another side of his character. He is increadibly unreliable and childish when it comes to social-life responsibilities. Being used to everything being handed to him on a silver plate since childhood, Milos does not bother with fulfilling his liabilities as a member of society. He is the kind of man to looks for quick pleasures and then pretend nothing happened at all, rather than think of consequences of his actions and, for that matter, even deal with them. While being an outgoing person and making friends easily, he does not keep them close for too long, not really willing to make any commited relationships with other people. The only person he has let close and grew to cherish is his son, but that treatment also made the poor young man the person who’d have to deal with his father’s awful irresponsibility the most.
Despite of the flaws in his personality, Milos manages to keep a flawless facade, not without the help of his looks that he takes great care of, or his wits that he is always willing to demonstrate. He LOVES being the center of everyone’s attention, even though he barely cares if their opinion of him is negative or positive.
History:
Born in a family of an alchemist and an artist, Milos, as well as his two brothers and a sister, grew up in an atmosphere of complete freedom, as their parents allowed them to express their ideas and gave full support in their interests. The only thing that parents demanded of their children was to work hard and gain success in anything they’d start. Such way of upbringing made the children become very competitive, fighting for their parents' approval and proving that they were the most talented individuals in the pack.
Growing up, Milos changed a few interests trying a little bit of art, alchemy and engineering, but nothing of it would allure him enough to go beyond the most basic skills and knowledge. That was upsetting his parents, since they started to believe that Milos was going to be a failure. Seeing how the boy couldn’t find his own path by himself, his parents decided to go out of their way and choose a specialization for him. After a lot of consideration it was decided that Milos should move to Iadlain to become a summoner under his grandmother’s guidance, as Milos was showing some talent in magic.
The time spent in Iadlain turned Milos into an angry and angsty teenager. Even though he enjoyed studying magic, he did not like the city itself. Lacking the energy of Koben, in Milos’ eyes Iadlain seemed like a huge plain village. Viewing magic only as a tool, he couldn't understand the fascination in it that filled the city, and the strong worshipping of Atros was irritating for the non-religious teen. But what made Milos’ stay in the city the most unbearable were the elves. Having his own grandmother looking more like she was his sister reminded Milos of how different he was from these creatures. He understood very well that by the time he’d grow old and die most of the citizens of Iadlain would still look the same and that was driving him crazy, planting seeds of fear and envy in his heart. To find a distraction from his frustrations, the teen was often wandering out into the forest. Soon he started to come back bringing something with him, be it a stone of an interesting shape, an insect or a small animal he would manage to catch. His grandmother was not too happy with him storing this all in her house, but she endured it, glad at lest that the boy has finally found something to pick his interest. When Milos’ ability as summoner was more than satisfactory, he was sent back to Koben.
By the time of his return, Milos was already 17, skilled in his magic abilities and determined to keep studying nature and become a scientist. However, the drastic change from the still life of Iadlain to the bursting energy of Koben has gotten into his head and affected his young and impressionable mind for the worse. Instead of starting to study seriously, Milos got sucked into the world of temporary pleasures of spoiled wealthy youth. To his parents’ greatest shock and anger the young man found himself a questionable company that kept him out of his home until late night, delivering him back in less than pleasant condition. Such a destructive lifestyle of his continued for about a year and a half until one day a young woman appeared at the door of his family’s house, holding a newborn boy in her hands that she had no wish to raise. Milos was eager on the idea of keeping the child in their family, but his parents understood quite clearly that to him it was almost like a keeping a puppy. However, they decided to make use out of it and placed an ultimatum before their lousy son - they would take care of his illegitimate child if he’d drop fooling around and would, for once, start treating his own life and possible career seriously. Eager to prove that he was already ‘mature’ and ‘adult’ enought for keeping a puppy child, Milos jumped into this offer easily.
Despite of the irresponsibility he has demonstrated earlier in his life, Milos has managed to surprisingly succeed in his study, joining, and later graduating from one of Koben’s universities that specialised in natural sciences. In addition to that, he kept perfecting his skills in magic as he found familiars to be increadibly useful and fascinating. However, all of the research and study he was doing required huge investment of time, which kept Milos from seeing his child. While to Milos such ‘sarcifice’ was not a big deal, his son was growing bitter towards his father who barely paid any attention to him. That created some tension between the two males that Milos somehow managed to gracefully ignore. It did not become obvious to Milos that his way of parenting was not really healthy until his child rebelled and left their home in the middle of winter. Naive child, he thought that it would be pretty easy for him to live in the wilds outside the city, but the sudden adventure ended not as well as he planned and resulted in him nearly loosing his vision.
The incident forced Milos to reconsider his life a bit and take a closer look at his relationship with his son, as near loss of the boy has affected Milos more than he himself would expect. For years now he is trying to gain his son’s trust, which proves to be an uneasy task as the young man still keeps being bitter and doubtful about his father.
Currently, Milos still continues his scientific work, often travelling around the Empire to study the nature and wild life in diferent climatic zones. He makes his living by publishing his works and receiving investments from people who are insterested in his research. When in Koben, he is often invited to give lectures at the universities that are interested in his studies.
Additional info:
Milos loves jewelry. If one would consider giving him a present, that would be the most obvious and fitting choice.
If he doesn’t call you ‘my dear’, ‘darling’ ‘precious’, ‘dove’ and etc. that means that he, most likely, loathes you.
Milos hates elves. Mind you, his hatred mostly comes from envy.
His biggest fear is aging and death.
He doesn’t tell his son who his mother is simpy because…. he doesn’t even know her name. For him it was just a one-night affair that he certainly did not expect to end the way it did.
Relationships:
Killian Jarosh-Kraus - his son. Despite of being a pretty awful father for the most part, Milos still loves his child and wishes to improve their relationship, which he fails at so far, since his son is a pretty stubborn individual and has all reasons to be mad a Milos.
