Description Started out as a training piece. I was experimenting with some new ways of making stars, background noise and bringing in some more light into my pieces. This whent on for like a couple of hours, and then it became clear that i had to work some more on it Its weird but it seems its my training pieces that makes it to my gallery hehe.

I've wanted for a long time to make a pure space pic, with some more colors and light than what i've been doing lately. Hope you guys like the result.

I've made a bunch of new planets for this piece, and one of the more unusual ones is the hot planet, swirling with lava , a little up at the right.

Working time: 11 hours
Tools of the trade: Photoshop cs2

Training? Your space pics always have that certain element,
that unexplicable..... something! Guess that`s why your art
is truly an art. No pretense. Great piece, man.

amazing job my friend! though is see some layer edges here and there... dunno if that's intended... looks a bit weird, maybe you check that before you upload a possible print file. oh you already did... mh... check it anyway. when i see this one i must say you're on the best way to become one of the best space artists here on DA.

aye, i see now that some of the background radiation coming from the nebula has a strait line. Its actually not layeredges, but it definately looks like it now that you mention it. Thanks alot for taking you time to inspect it bro. As allways, bottom honest and indeed valuable critics from you bro Thanks

Heeeey, this pic turned out great!! My favorite part would have to be the lava-planet (hehe, I told you I liked this from the start), but also the swirly clouds and mist around the nebula. The big planet looks somehow flat(?) and a little blurry, but you know me, always picky! You also know there is no way I could make something like this myself
I would love to see a larger lava-planet one day

All in all, great picture!

I'm not quite sure how you made those colors work together, but you pulled it off.

Beautiful nebula--lots of depth...like a heavenly fissure or something.

The planets are well-done, as well...the smaller one reminds me of volcanic planet in Star Wars EpIII...can't think of the name to save my life...

The larger one might be slightly over-sharpened in some areas; it contrasts with the blurriness of the middle of the nebula, creating a kind of inconsistency...

Ooh, and the star...I normally think huge stars like that are overused, but here, it works.

Damn nice one Frenz! The textures on the planets are amazing as usual, and the space clouds are totally ass-kickin. Have you considered making some tutorials on how to get some of these effects?

Mr-Frenzy In reply to MMM-AJ [2005-08-11 01:45:10 +0000 UTC]

aye, i've toyed with the idea of making a tutorial on how to create some textures for usage on planets. im not sure when i'll start to work on it though, because at the moment i'm kinda bursting with loads of ideas that i wanna get out hehe Thanks for the allways so nice comment bro

sweet, how d'you make that coo lighting effect with the planet & sun?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mr-Frenzy In reply to Schwig [2005-08-11 01:50:52 +0000 UTC]

You make a lensflare, set the layerstyle to linear dodge, ctrl T to transform and squeese the flare until its real narrow and thin. Then just duplicate the layer, rotate it 45 degrees, merge the layers. Reset the layerstyle to linear dodge and use the dodgetool to brighten up the inner of the flaresenter. Then use the dodgetool on the planet and the original sun(lensflare) voila hope its answer to your question Ps: remember to set the layer with the flares over the planetlayer
