Was more "random DM revenge". I had the gun there to discourage players from trying any shit for one of the important encounters, but it was fake from the beginning. I didn't want to fire a plasma gun at my players, really, so there needed to be a reason why they didn't get melted when shit went down.

wow then you were being rather nice. the dm in my dark heresy game decided the general greivous knockoff BBEG wasnt bad enough with his twin power swords the module said he had so he gave him twin plasma pistols. then he wondered why we were complaining about the sudden ramped up difficulty

kronus, same as everyone on the team was early level and had NO idea how to use a plasma gun. Whether you can fire them or not, though a plasma gun is worth a BUNCH of money. He was more upset to not have cash.
