It's a mask custom made for Gustav from archeotech parts. He's not really comfortable explaining why he needs his mask to fight, but it's likely a sense of detatchment. He is a lover of beauty and serentiy when not on the battlefied, and probably fears that without making a clear definition between Gustav the man and Gustav the warrior, his writing would suffer.

I think there some term for this kind of thing.. s psychological switch? Reguardless he's a neat character and he looks bitchin.

That actually makes a lot of sense. He sees the mask as a way of putting the spear down as it were.
Awesome. I may have to steal err, I mean TAKE this idea and use it.

Hmm. He puts on the mask to enter his war-persona, and takes it off to become a sheltered civilian with no knowledge of war other than what is strictly necessary?
I didn't know there were Eldar Aspect Warriors in Ragged Edges.

Shhhh, the Ordo Xenos would send the Deathwatch on him. Besides, everyone has their "quirks". For example the overly superstitious guardsmen who engage in strange rumor rituals to enhance their weaponry (It will either not work or they will be duped into heresy probably).

OMG. It's a Me as a Storm Trooper! LOL.
I'm just saying that cause he and I have the same personality. Other than the awful color, (Sorry, if it was a bit darker in shade, it'd give a stronger feel) This is a good character.

I hope that these two personalities of him never change over in the middle of a battle or worst, in the middle of the mess room!

Could explain why most special forces wear some form of Gasmask or other derivative I guess. Phycological Warfare is a big thing these days.
'Sides, Gas Masks and Rebreathers are cool.

To me, his split personality while wearing the mask might be attributed to the mask itself also having a chem inhaler, the same kind of thing the Savlar Chem Dogs use to make them a bunch of psycho crazies. Then again I'm the over analytical type.

It's not my own creation (as with many of these quotes, they are lifted from history) but it is very much appropriate to him. It's a good one.

Do artisans, particularly popular ones, get drafted frequently in the Imperium? I would have thought that they'd have left them alone to keep the proletariat happy.
Just outta curiosity, what is the purpose of all these characters? And are they original creations?

These are just character profiles for the many troops from the Ragged Edges stories I write. I thought it'd be fun to make bios for them I guess. They are of my own creation.
