I friggin' love Jervis, okay? I actually draw him constantly (never really seen here, because they're mostly crappy little doodles). But as much as I love the BTAS version of Jervis, I also REALLY like the Secret Six and Joker's Asylum versions. The whole concept of him being a microcephalic dwarf is just a bit too perfect--it gives him so much more depth as far as the search for Alice goes, because of the conflict his appearance creates.I really want him to find an Alice, though.
So this picture is based on that version of Jervis. Yeah.

So I've been told. Actually, on Tumblr, I added a #hobbit tag to the original art post because so many people kept pointing out Jerv's resemblance to one.

Poor littly Jerwis who did not get he's big love.... He is one of my favorite Batman villain and now I'm wondering he's childhood. Nobody not seem to know anything about it and there might be something dark and hidious. Of corse I can be wrong and he's life before adulthood was ok but I don't still believe. He act the same as many bullied freinds of mine and I'm one of those poor people.... That might be the main reason why I like him

Yeah, his past is something the series never really elaborated too much on, which is a shame. He is definitely an incredibly sympathetic character, like you say. In some ways he's very similar to Oswald, as far as having a past of being bullied because of their physical appearances (as far as the S6 & JA version of Tetch goes) resulting in a life of crime. Regardless, I still think Jervis is a lot more innocent than Oswald...he's still got that child-like nature and charm that The Penguin...doesn't really show a lot. 'Cept in that phenomenal Joker's Asylum ish. THAT was brilliant.
The thing is with Jervis, though, is that all he really wants is to be happy and loved. Which is, like, heart-breakingly tragic, because you know he's never going to find that.
Unless he hooks up with Marie Dahl, maybe.
I'd ship that.
