Description So I've borrowed the Mass Effect art book off a friend for the last week or so, and there's a bunch of marker drawings and stuff, reminded me of a lot of Syd Mead's stuff and I went back through a book of his, felt like doing a bit of my own, always feels good to get the copics out, though I'm thinking it might have been good to've done a drawing class with the industrial design students while at uni, probably would've been helpful.

(sounds dramatic, eh? I've always been terrible with names )

I can see the Mass Effect influence in this one, looks a tad like a duoble hull Normandy as far as shape and the engines bear resemblence as well. Again nice work!

As for the drawing class, you and me both needed to.

Nice sketches btw, though they do seem familiar...

Familiar, yes!

It reminds me of your work in studio class... Ahhh... Those were the days.

that they were! forced me to work traditionally, which was a good thing.
(until we started bringing in the tablets, at least)

nice work man! Definitely check out 'the art of halo 3' if you liked the mass effect book, it has some amazing marker renderings of environments and vehicles.

This is a great exercize to revert back entirely to traditional medias once in a while. It sometimes gives impressive, quick results, such as this ship design of yours

That it is; the feeling of markers on paper's always fantastic (though I should probably get some proper bleedproof, might help a bit)

Cheers!

I often wondered why so many space ships in movies and video games were aerodynamic, when such concepts only have application in an atmosphere. (I'm on the look out for a good rant.... you've been spared) But anyway nice draw.

Mr--Jack In reply to Slippery-Frog [2009-08-13 23:15:22 +0000 UTC]

I guess it depends. This looks like it's sitting on a terrestrial spaceport, so some aerodynamics are probably helpful...

thanks!
