Kinda reminds me of one of my grandfather's dairy cows many years ago.  She was up on the upper pasture and must have gotten into some hemp.  When she came down it was to stand for two hours staring at a gate post.  And she had the same cocked head look, too.

From statistics it's known that cows need the space the most of mass scale farm animals. Additionally, cows are the most often running from industry farms.
In Poland there was a cow that ran away and it was free for 11 months. There was need for full police raid to catch it... despite it was well known where the cow liked to eat.
