Description
Man, woman, child; it does not matter to me,I enter your mind when you sleep and invade your sweet dreams.
Great pleasure I take from terror and fright,
To make my victims twist and turn in the dead of the night.
You need not look further for a means to make the bravest of fools cry,
For there is no greater nightmare than the one that is I.
Spur of the moment creation of a character which I have appropriately named Nightmare. I like to imagine he speaks using riddles and poems instead of just getting to the point.
I was inspired to create him after examining a dead flying fox a couple of friends found and gave to me (only great friends don't question your fascination with dead things...). The flesh and skin on the skull was completely gone, but it still had its fur. It's the creepiest looking thing at the moment. (Photos: [link] [link] (Warning! It's pretty disgusting, haha.)
Anyways, after a bit of study and a few sketches, I drew this up quickly for fun.
Oh, and since a few people asked, the random poems I have in my descriptions sometimes are written by myself. They're terribly written, but again, they're just spur of the moment thoughts I get when i'm trying to think of what to write. xD

Cool. The pictures were...interesting...but it was cool! XD I feel like this character has potential; I just don't know what kind of story he'd belong in. *shrug* That would be up to you to find out, I suppose. :3

I think I might add him into one of my current stories. Like a creature of a deep dark forest.
I was thinking that in the story, the two main characters fight quite a lot, and Nightmare, seizing the opportunity when they enter his forest, creates illusions and nightmares for the characters that make them doubt and question one another and break the trust between them. But the the characters realize how long they had known each other and if whenever one of them is in trouble, the other is always there to lend a hand, Nightmare's attempts fail and the characters finally leave the forest with a deeper bond then before.
Very brief description there, haha. What do you think? c:

Sounds cool! I imagine Nightmare isn't flying fox sized? XD It would make him have a greater presence as an enemy if he wasn't. Then again, I'd find it kind of ironic if he was just an average sized flying fox. Especially if they figure that out. |D
I want to see this when you write it, though! if it's okay for me to ask... I enjoy the riddle/poem things he talks in!

I don't want him to be too small, so I'm thinking about the size of a medium dog (like a German shepherd or something similar). He doesn't actually confront the characters- he's more in the background pulling strings. Oh yeah, and he surrounds himself with his illusions or exaggerates his size if he does appear in front of someone. Sneaky fella. :b
Just so you know, he's a character from my Ito story... Which still needs a lot of work... :'D

Unfortunately because the bat is long dead, he's really dry and missing quite a bit of his body. At the moment it looks like i'll only be able to salvage the skull, spine and ribcage.

It's already too old and dry to taxidermy, but i'm still going to clean off the bones and keep them.

If I can salvage the other bones other than the skull, i'll keep them too. Although quite a lot of the bones are broken in places, so it seems i'll only be able to get the skull, spine and ribcage out of it. We'll see.
