Have you ever loved a character so much? I've never been able to keep interest in a character but Lainey..idk she's just..different...

well I personally like the piece and I myself started off doing similar linework and calling it pixelart but one thing I've learned is that majority of the pixel artist community are people who have been doing that art from the beginning and throughout the development of the video-game industry. the particular art form is in a sense the entirety of some of these people's lives. and I'll tell you first hand that people can get genuinely upset when the very strict rules of pixel-art are not followed. I still enjoy this piece however, just be a little more careful when genre labeling on DA.

I understand, and thanks for the compliments! But in my 3+ years on devianart I've not once before now been told that my work was not pixel art. Not even when I was an immature youngin' using bases (shivers)
So I'm curious, what do you think sets this apart from "true" pixel art? Or like what you make?
I will say that I did free-hand with a mouse, I do with all my pixel art

basically the scale of the piece, it's focuses on the lineart and colouring in the sense of traditional drawing as opposed to using the pixel to it's aesthetic advantages. if you ponder around this site for a bit i'm sure you'll understand.

I don't agree with disqualifying my piece just because it's bigger. I've also been to pixeljoint and I also know a whole lot about pixel art in general. You should check out my other pixel works, they all vary is shape and size, different lines and different colors, but I still view them all as pixel art :0

I saw your other works. and majority of them are pixel art, but this piece is just an extensive void of empty space between the pixels, it's as if you have no respect for the genre.
