heh. i think the plating on the animal was too rigid to allow that. (a lot of findings show scientist finding the entire back armor in one go like a long sheet of paper. really tough stuff) but yeah, the sucker is kinda hard to draw. he has this weird mix of cute and ugly mixed into one with weird shapes in between. not an easy critter to work with but I do like how this came out. glad you enjoyed the piece.

yeah. trexs seemed to avoid these considering the tails could shatter legs. probably the most well protected and dangerous of herbivores.

he died pretty much as i expected. and i just thought "good riddance." honestly, the ankylosaur killed it when it shattered the thing's legs, but they just wanted to show off what a badass that thing was that they made it take damage it shouldn't have and beat its superior opponent.

kinda was too. was mildly surprised it was getting beaten. but only mildly. then it got killed by a mosasaur which is what i expected next.

I don't even remember the spinosaur skeleton, but you're probably right. a lot of people got pissed at the idea of spinosaur killing rex
but scientific study supports that spinosaur is actually bigger than rex. so if it did meet, it'd be killed by spinosaurus.

the spino? or the rex?
doesn't really matter either way though, as the real ones the spino seems to be more massive than rex. main thing though is spino has a diet of fish rather than lizards, but it could probably go after lizards if it chose to

The Rex. Some people say if it was an adult Rex then it would have killed the Spinosaurus

mortalshinobi In reply to godofwarlover [2015-07-01 02:47:48 +0000 UTC]
gods. it was an adult rex, at least as far as the movie went. theyre just angry for the same reason people would be angry at a tiger killing a lion. the rex is over hyped as the super predator of the world cuz that's what fantasy has made it out to be. but truth is, there are things that are bigger and meaner than the rex and they will eat it. and surprisingly, spinsosaurus is one of these.

fuck that group. it's all about the latest hype train based on theory which may or may not be right. i don't much care for scientist who don't even have mild logic on their side. when they're impressed that a baby triceratops has little stub horns rather than the full blown thing, i think some basic concepts of their studies are missing.

Didn't Indominus kill and eat this thing? How does that translate to winning?

mortalshinobi In reply to Jokerisdaking [2015-06-28 20:57:50 +0000 UTC]
cuz they overpowered indominus and it actually died. the ankylosaur hits the indominus' skull in the video. wether a t-rex or raptor, that skull is gonna' shatter. and if it's the leg femur even faster it'll shatter. it was to overhype the indominus but it actually lost the fight. if you know anything about ankylosaurus you know you don't take a blow from its tail. that's a game ender right there.

generally because they are. here's an article regarding an ankylosaur tail www.wired.com/2009/08/dinotail… I can also link a video which goes into far more detail on it. needless to say, an indominus being smack in the shin by one would be fucked. he/she would need to avoid the tail completely to avoid damage. secondly, as powerful as indominous was, are you seriously gonna tell me the thing could just hurl around its own weight sequestered close to the ground? an ankylosaur weighs about 4 tons. that's not something you can simply throw around easily. too much about the ankylosaur fight was inaccurate, mainly cuz they wanted to make indominus "cool," but he came off as some "new baddie" trying to beat up on wolverine to show how powerful he was. honestly the indominus was the most boring part of the movie. good movie, but indominus was meh.

I don't question your Ankylosaur data. The problem with your argument though is you (and everyone else) know nothing about the physiological design of the Imdominus. It's bone structure, bone thickness, bone density; nothing. Nor do we know anything about its muscle structure. You can't really gage hoe much damage the Ankylosaur can do to Imdominus when you don't have the data of the other dinosaur to compare it to. Ants can carry several times their own weight. Perhaps Imdominus could too. It was able to camouflage itself after all. We have no idea what he was or was not capable of. Hell, I'm perfectly capable of tossing someone my own weight and I'm not even all that strong.

mortalshinobi In reply to Jokerisdaking [2015-06-28 22:49:28 +0000 UTC]
we know its primary components were raptors and tyrannosaurus. from this we can gage an idea of how strong/sturdy the body would be. so this gives us something by which to measure the ankylosaur's capabilities fighting it. that and even if indominus were crossed with several animals of today, there's nothing of today where the head or legs were any tougher than those of the past. which results in something broken when its clubbed regardless of crossing.

Jokerisdaking In reply to mortalshinobi [2015-06-28 22:54:37 +0000 UTC]
It was bred from many creatures so simply using the tree and raptor DNA to gauge its strength is scientifically unsound. There are thousands of species that have a higher density bone mass than the norm. The only thing that the movie gave to gauge its strength and durability were the fights it was in and in those fights it was indeed strong enough to resist multiple strikes from the Ankylosaur. That's suggests that it's bone structure is quite durable.

unless it got crossed wit an ankylosaur itself and had the armor, it's still unlikely to be able to completely dominate a fight the way it did which is part of its mary sue capabilities. you'd honestly need to find real animals who could have out matched the bone force of an ankylosaur tail. and that's gonna' be a tough pill to take even if you have the whole gene pool to play with. and i'm going to rule out the ankylosaur, at least on the head and legs as we didnt' see the armor on those areas. the main problem is the ankylosaur as it goes is realistically almost unkillable. this is part of why they thrived back in the day. it's just really hard to get at the weak points on the animal.
