... or 'infanticide' :In sociology and biology, infanticide is the practice of intentionally causing the death of an infant of a given species, by members of the same species - often by the mother. More recently in criminology, it includes various forms of non-maternal child murder. In many past societies, certain forms of infanticide were considered permissible, whereas in most modern societies the practice is considered immoral and criminal. Nonetheless, it still takes place — in the Western world usually because of the parent's mental illness or violent behavior, and in some poor countries because of tacit societal acceptance.
I am feeling kinda depressed since school started, and in ethics class we were talking about this subject, so now I'm double depressed...

it has everything to do with abortion.....abortion is intentionally causing the death of the infant....a fetus in my opinion is an infant....the definition of an infant is a child at the earliest stages of life...a fetus is a live human being....abortion is killing...and life is killing...we all kill to keep ourselves alive....so i see no reason as to not do it...the world needs less people.....it's not killing the child when it knows of life and it has lived for a bit...that's fucked up....anyway....i like the work itself....it's a very nice piece....i just don;t like what you're saying in it.....i see it more as the cycle of life and death, that death is actually the same as birth....some things you can see better in blindness and others it's better to be in clear light....but when i read your message it was clear you're bringing politics and society bullshit into it.....

Actually, a fetus isn't an infant, its a fetus. A fetus then becomes a neonate on day 0 (the day of birth) until four weeks old when it becomes an infant. Therefore, infanticide is nothing to do with abortion - feticide is the correct medical term the the purposeful ending of a fetuses life.
Infanticide on the other hand is the illegal murder or an infant (ranging from 4 weeks old to 5 years old). What was said was different to how you interpreted this piece of work. I work in midwifery an awful lot and I think you're more than right - but please try to understand his message before you criticise it.

I read this article in a paper last year about how young girls who were pregnant in England would smoke copious amounts of cigarettes in hope of having a fetus with a lower birth rate, and making the child's passage easier out of their bodies. This reminds me of that.

I like the colours, the light in in this picture. The contrast between the two pictures makes it a finished picture. It is shocking, because of the flame, but I also find it peaceful, for a reason I can't really explain. Very beutiful and well done!
