I used to have Japanese iris that looked just like that. But there are gone now...I think the deer ate them.

Nice...the rabbits here are multiply fast...so far no fatalities....we shall see..
The Deer routed up the bulbs...Not Cool.

Last fall's range fires in the hills above my home forced a lot of deer and raccoons. I can also hear more owls all day and night than ever before. For some reason we also have dozens of turtle doves that were never in the area before. I don't mind losing a few plantings if the deer were able to survive without their usual winter rangeland.

Turtle doves..we have Morning Doves(very cool birds)..dont think i have seen a turtle doves out here...

I've never seen the owls...just heard them. The only owl I've photographed was a great horned sitting in a window of abandoned house.
The ones around here are the ringed turtle doves...and this is the first year they have been seen.
