Thornbristle had a very ordinary kithood. He had a kind mother, and loved to play around. He was very adventurous, often exploring the camp and listening to the elders talk. Though his mother passed away, he still looked forward to his apprenticeship, and tried to keep himself as happy as possible. He never knew his father well, just that he was gone before Thornbristle was born. He's assumed to be dead.

Apprenticeship
As an apprentice, Thornpaw grew up quite a bit. The first cat he met was a tom named Brackenpaw. The two seemed to instantly become best friends, happily hunting and talking to one another. Thornpaw met a few other cats over the course of a few moons, until one day, he met a she-cat named Warblerpaw. She had a crush on him, and told him about a moon after their initial meeting. Thornpaw shared the same feelings, so the two grew closer. Everything seemed to be going well for the tom. That was, until one day he went hunting with Warblerpaw. It was a great day, until he spotted a bird perched on a large rock. He stalked up the rock towards it, but the bird noticed him, surprising the tom. He slipped and fell, managing to smack his jaw against a rock, which twisted and dislocated it. After this, he immediately went to working as hard as possible to become a warrior at his normal time. He snuck out of camp to catch nearby birds, went out with Warblerpaw on a regular basis to adapt in order to hunt, and did as many tedious chores as possible. And luckily for the tom, he managed to heal in time, and became a warrior at his regular time with Warblerpaw, his new name being Thornbristle.

Thornpaw sighed. His legs were killing him, and he still hadn't found any prey, despite running for what seemed like an entire moon to the brown-patched apprentice. Suddenly, his ears pricked, instinctively flicking towards the sound. He lowered himself and glanced through the thick grass. It was a rabbit! Maybe he could give that to the kits... One of the queens might appreciate it. He slowly began to stalk it, his belly as close to the ground as possible. However, it's not easy to stalk in the moor, and quickly, the rabbit caught on and began to shoot off. But by then, its fate was sealed. Thornpaw had gotten close enough to gather his hindquarters and leap as far as he could, catching one of the rabbit's hind legs. It let out a tapering squeak as he quickly nipped it. He picked up his prey, happy and proud of himself as he turned, padding back through the moor towards camp in order to take it to the nursery.
