Could be they do take in wildlife that needs care. The left paw was hanging onto a piece of wood sticking out but I see what you mean with the right paw. Luckily it moved about fine while we were there so it does not seem to bother him.

Actually, if you look at the paws, they look like they've been deformed. The skin coming up over the one on the right isn't normally like that, plus the paw on the left has what looks like deformed toes. Then again, white is a recessive trait typically brought about through inbreeding, so it's probably genetic.
