Description The Triton Project is at its core a romance between Misty and Ash. It does contain some violence and such thanks to Pokemon battles being...violent, but I'll warn anyone if I think it's getting into M rating territory. I hope you enjoy it!

Shells and Bells is about when Misty and Ash first meet. This story is an AU. (Also, Ash is a merman.)

Inked with Copic inking pens and colored with Prismacolor markers on Bristol 11 x 14 Strathmore paper.

Nice. Misty looks so cute in her swimsuit. She is my favorite character. Misty loves to swim.

Thanks XD I hope to keep a steady schedule on it. Right now I have a nice buffer, so I'm not super worried.

First off, you have a great sense of composition. The figures have dynamic poses and definite lines of action are shown. The way you've laid out the scene also has a good sense of depth and distance, it's obvious to see where the figures and pokemon are in relation to each other.
As for critique, I'm not sure what you're coloring with (it looks to me like markers, maybe copics?) but it's smoothly done on small areas and streakier on the large area of the background (Which is what makes me think they're copics, as they tend to do that) To combat this, you could get a colorless blender, I know they're available and my personal favorite is the Prismacolor marker brand, which are even a little cheaper than copics! Another way to de-streak the background would be to touch it up digitally in photoshop or gimp. With the background smoothed out, the figures would pop more. On another note, the anatomy of Misty's legs and arms look a little strange, but I don't know as much about anatomy as I like to think I do about coloring, ha ha, so I'll just say to keep practicing while wishing I could give better advice on that.
To close the critique, another strength of the image is the expressions on each character, even the pokemon are imbued with such personality and style! It's great to see a fluid action and character's reaction in a picture that tells a story. The swooping shape of the seaweed is also great in the way that it draws the viewers eye right to the main figures.

Wow, thank you! Yeah, I think my bane is large empty backgrounds like that because my markers start to just hate me after a while >< I do have a colorless blender, but it's not much help in the larger areas. I tried to clean it up a bit in Photoshop...I think from now on if I have a big area like that I'll just fill it with the Gradient tool, and color the figures traditionally. Kinda figured that out after I had half the page colored.

But thanks very much! I actually learned a lot about composition from Linkara XD He always rants about how a cover should draw the reader into the story, so I tried to go from that. I agree with the proportions on Misty, though. One of my goals with this is to learn how to draw people better. Hopefully repetition will improve that. (Also, children are weird. Skinny as sticks and smaaaaall. I want to get better at that, because I don't want to draw small adults.)

Thanks again!

Yaaay. And now I want to thank you for taking honest critique like a champ. Sometimes reactions to actual critique on deviantart are really iffy

Haha, you're welcome XD I like critiques like this. And you're very polite about it, which is nice. I've always believed that you can't dish it if you can't take it XD So something like this is just useful to me. Flames are just amusing and I trollz the writer XD It's the ones that don't say much that I can't really answer much to.
