Description Here is the 60th page of my Explorer's Notebook for the Animal of the Month Event at   : the Cape Golden Mole!!

Technically, it isn't a mole and it doesn't have golden fur (their colors range from black to slate grey to dark brown to lighter beige, with often a coppery sheen), but it's truly an astonishing animal!! First of all, it doesn't have eyes (or, to be perfectly accurate, its eyes are underdeveloped and covered by fur, so it probably only distinguishes if it's dark or not in front of its nose)… It felt so WEIRD drawing an animal with a head, but no eyes!! It lives underground, swimming through earth and sand, just under the surface, and feeds on small animals living there like worms and insects... Also, they don't drink, finding their only source of water in their food, and can switch off their thermoregulation when they sleep... a kind of hibernation! Truly, this is a very unusual mammal, and I'm delighted the AotM has allowed me to hear about it!!
You can learn more about it here: www.krugerpark.co.za/africa_mo… or here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_m…

And... sorry guys , I must say it: Happy Animal of the Month Anniversary to me!!!!!!!! This AotM series is today 5 years old!!!! and without a missing month!! So I'm pretty proud of myself, I must say It's been a pleasure discovering new animals with you, improving my drawing skills and having fun!!! It's not always been easy, I mean when I look at some of my drawings, I want to hide my face because they look so bad to me now, but at the same time, it shows I've made progress, and it also reminds me that progress in drawing is not a straight line going up, but more or a roller coaster, with ups and downs.. but globally I feel like I've improved a lot!! besides, this series has made me discover how much I enjoy drawing birds, something I didn't know before, and it has taught me much about anatomy and, of course thank YOU guys for your support and your comments, I'm so happy when some of my watchers discover a new animal with my drawings

Seeing this series grow has been a pleasure. 😊 These drawings do show some signs of improvement which is cool and you've gotten really good at drawing these animals. What a wonderful world we live in to know that such animals like these are out there and living their lives in their natural habitat.
