Description "He's not real" Theresa was listening to a conversation between two of her classmates. It was the day before the winter brake and everyone was ready to fly out of the school the second the bell rang.

"Then who leaves you presents on Christmas eve?" her other classmate replied. She figured that she should know their names, but she never cared that much.

"Your parents. Duh." The first one insisted, "My big brother told me so"

"That's stupid" A third classmate of hers joined in the conversation, causing the whole class to start arguing about Santa.

While they argued Theresa pretended to work on the stuff her teacher had left for them when she had gone to grab a hand out, but really she was lost in thought. It had been two years since that winter day she had spent with Jack Frost, and more then once she had wondered if it had simply been a product of her 'overactive imagination.'

She had remembered him saying that Santa was real and it was yeti's who made toys, not elves, so when she had written her yearly letter to Santa she had vaguely asked for 'a plush toy of the ones that make the toys' knowing that if her parents were the ones who gave her presents she would get an elf.

When the teacher came back the class settled down, but Theresa kept thinking about her plans for Christmas eve.

----

'Santa,' known to his friends as North, was unaware of the talk that went on every year between children, he knew it happened, but it did not effect him overly much.

At this time of the year he was busy with the final preparations for Christmas and did not have much time for anything else anyway. At the moment he was doing his yearly check of the lists and seeing what kids wanted most.

Jack Frost was also at the pole, since he was a bit bored and it was always interesting there at this time of the year.

"Bah" North said, after reading the very vague request from Theresa, he looked over at Jack, "Kids still think it is elves who make toys, yes?"

Jack shrugged, "Depends on the kid." He looked at the request to see why North had asked, "Hey, I know her." He said after a moment, "I told her that it was the yetis, I wonder why she's being vague?" He went back to sit on the ledge he had been leaning against.

"Probably test." North said, turning back to it and penciling in 'yeti' "How old is girl? She is probably trying to make sure we are real."

"I'm not really sure, it's been a few years since I saw her but she can't be that old" Jack answered. Suddenly he got up, "I'll see you later North" He said as he flew out a window.

----

"No homework for the brake" Theresa's teacher said towards the end of the day, "The bell will go in a minute, so you might as well pack up."

The class immediately started moving, rushing to get ready for the end of the day.

When the bell went Theresa, as always, hung back a bit and left after everyone, though she was almost jumping out of her skin with excitement. Her classmates were trying to get out so fast she was mildly surprised they even stopped to change their indoor shoes for their boots.

Theresa made the short walk home in silence, thinking about the day she had spent with Jack Frost. Had it been her imagination? Were they 'lied to' about Santa? If it turned out Santa wasn't real, did that mean the rest were fake as well? All these questions ran through her head. How could she really know?

When Theresa walked in the door to her house her thoughts about Santa stopped for a moment when she smelled the tree. A huge grin appeared on her face as she kicked off her boots and tore off her coat. She ran into the family room just in time to see them tighten the last screw at the base of the tree.

"Can we start decorating the house now?" She asked, full of excitement.

"Not until your sisters are home" Her mom answered, cutting the twine off the tree so the branches could fall into place.
