Description "We could always put it back together" Jack heard one kid saying as he waited for Theresa.

"It wouldn't be the same" The child's friend said as they looked at the broken snowman. It was hard to watch. To most people it would seem like a small, insignificant thing, but to these kids it was a great tragedy.

Some of the kids were kneeling down next to where a mini-snowman had been, others were looking at just how much damage had been done to their snowmen. A few of the really young kids were actually in tears.

"Even if we remake them" Theresa said, he hadn't noticed her walk up as he watched the kids, "Those boys might come back and knock them over again."

"That doesn't mean you shouldn't try" Jack said, halfheartedly, knowing that if those boys did come back to smash snowmen again he would not be there to stop the balls from being broken apart.

Theresa sat in the snow and grabbed a handful, "Thanks for keeping the balls from getting smashed." She said, then looked up at him, her eyes full of tears, "I'm sorry for what I said before, I didn't mean it" She blinked a few times and hung her head, wiping her eyes.

Jack was a bit confused, he couldn't tell if she was crying because of what she had said or because of the snowman, but it didn't matter. He leaned down and put a hand on her shoulder "Hey, hey, it'll be fine"

"No it won't." She said through her tears, "You made the snow perfect for snowmen because I wanted to make one, because of that everyone could make one. Now everyone is sad and it's my fault" She kept rubbing her eyes, willing the tears to go away.

"No, it's not." Jack said, putting his finger under her chin and tilting her head up, "It's the fault of those boys. Everyone that made a snowman earlier had a great time because you mentioned that the snow was not the best for making anything."

Theresa sniffed, the tears starting to stop, "But everyone is sad now. All the snowmen got knocked over and no one will want to make them again." She rubbed the last of the tears out of her eyes while she looked at Jack, who had removed his hand, "It would be more like a chore then something fun to do."

Jack knew that was true, listening to some of the conversations he knew that none of the snowmen would be rebuilt. He looked up, at the kids behind Theresa, expecting to see a bunch of bummed out kids, and was surprised. "Well, you might want to stand up and turn around" He said

"What, why?" She asked as she did just that, she was shocked to see that the kids were no longer sad over the loss of their snowmen, and most of the groups of people were now mingling with one another, talking for a few seconds before running off, some towards other people and others to stand by the snowballs that had made the snowmen.

Theresa was understandably confused and did not even see the person that came up next to her.

"Hey, um, Theresa?" Frank, of all people, was standing next to her and making no signs that he planned to be mean at all.

With a start Theresa turned to face him, her arms twitching as she resisted the urge to put them in front of her. "Yeah?" She looked around, it was hard to look the guy that normally bullied her in the eye when she wasn't glaring at him, since every time her eyes went towards him that was now the natural reaction she had.

Frank took a deep breath "Me and the guys had this idea to build snow forts with all the smashed snowmen, but a few other people are copying us so we want to get as many people as we can" he paused for breath before continuing, "Anyway there are, like, four groups of people and we all know you made these huge balls all by yourself so we were wondering if you would join us because your really good at making these thing and yeah"

His face was almost purple from not breathing in for so long, and Theresa had to hold in a laugh that Jack just let out.

Theresa looked at Franks and frowned, "If this is some mean prank it's not a funny one."

Frank waved his hands, "No, no, I promise, this is not a prank. That's why they made me come over here and ask."

Theresa rolled her eyes but said, "Well, ok, I guess I'll believe you"

Frank smiled, clearly glad he had managed to get the only person that had made a full sized snowman apparently by themselves. "Okay, awesome! You stay here and make sure no one steals your snow balls. Once we have everyone we'll roll the snow balls over to you."

"Sure, and I'll make another one while I while I wait!" She said as he ran off to talk to some more kids.

Theresa looked at Jack, "Is is okay if I don't tell them I had your help, it's kind of lying but I don't think they would believe me if I told them the truth."

Jack looked down at the girl and smiled, "Yeah, don't worry. I'm not so sensitive that a small omission of truth will get me down"

Theresa smiled and started rolling the snowball she had been working on, "Jack, you're awesome."

Jack laughed a bit, "Well, you seem busy, want to talk later?" He didn't want to make her into more of an outcast by having people see her talking to herself, for all they could tell.

"You bet!" She said, and with that he flew away, a smile on his face.

----

Theresa walked across the side walk after school, adjusting her back pack, she was hoping she would meet Jack Frost at the door again, but when she had left he wasn't there.

She looked up at the sky as she walked, not bothering to hide the smile that was on her lips.

"Looks like you had a good day" Someone behind her said, Theresa turned around fast hoping to see Jack, but it was just her sister, Daisy.

"Yeah, I really did" Theresa said, not elaborating despite her sisters quizzical look.

The pair made the short walk home in silence and spent the rest of the day as they usually did, it was not until night that something different happened.

Just after Theresa had brushed her teeth and was about to change into her PJs she heard a tap on her window, the blinds were closed but she immediately knew who it was. After all, not many people can reach a window on the second floor.

She rushed to the window and pulled open the blinds, giving Jack a huge grin while she opened the window and he came in.

"How did you know this was my room?" She asked

"It's a secret" Jack said, really it had been a lucky guess, if he was wrong he would have just tried another window. "From that goofy grin I'd say you had a good day?"

Theresa covered her mouth with her hand as she tried, unsuccessfully, to stop grinning. Finally, she gave up and said, "Yeah, and it's all thanks to you, Jack"

"No problem, after all, what are friends for?" Jack said then looked at the roof briefly before saying what he had come their to say, "I met your principle. He is the first adult I've met that can see any of us."

Theresa smiled and sat on her bed, "That's cause he's not really an adult, his body just grew up"

Jack raised an eyebrow at how she worded that, but continued anyway, "It was just odd, he said how he knows how seasons work according to science and yet believes in something most people write off by the time they're 14."

Theresa thought hard for a few minutes, she was considered a smart kid by some people, but she was still a kid, "I can't help you there." She finally said.

"Time for lights out girls!" Theresa heard her mom call from the bottom of the stairs.

"You should probably go." She told Jack, standing up, "Will I ever see you again?"

"So long as you believe there is always a chance." Jack said, smiling as he walked over to the window.

Just as he opened the window he was surprised to feel two arms wrap around him in a tight hug for just one second, turning around Theresa was already hopping back onto her bed, "I bet tonight I have great dreams! See you later Jack" She said

Jack looked out the window and saw the golden sand of the Sandman starting to go towards kids bedrooms, "I know you will" He said, hopping out the window and closing it after himself.
