Description Just a few shots of the costume I've been working on for Salan Con/my own enjoyment. Everything I'm wearing was either made from scratch or modified from an existing garment I got thrifting. I made the "bustle" skirt by hand without a pattern. The gloves are created from scrap pieces of leather sewn together. On the right are pictures of some of the jewelry and chains I created for the costume. All the cogs were bought from a collector and painstakingly cleaned and polished by me. The goggles were handmade from leather and some metal pieces using a handy little tutorial. As you can see it's not entirely finished yet, a lot of the accessories aren't included and I need to rework the skirt a bit, but I'm really happy with it. Eventually when I have access to a scanner, I'll put up some of my original design sketches.

A note on the character...I created this outfit to match the personality and story of the character I will be RPing. She actually has a story in the works (I'm writing it now), but here's a little taste:

Miss Corvosso is the adopted daughter of Dr. Henry Emmet Corvosso, brilliant inventor and heir to the Corvosso Circus throne. She and her father travel around with the circus in their airship the H.M.S. Lillian (a gift from the Queen, named after Corvosso's late wife). Corvosso's main claim-to-fame is his perfection of a technique that allows him to give his mechanic creations souls. Working with the assistance of a medium (currently the young Miss Corvosso), the doctor is able to give life to the non-living. His primary use of this technique is to allow people more time with their beloved animals (he is able to transfer the soul of an animal before death to a new mechanized body). His Magnificent Mechanical Marvels are the talk of the town. Miss Corvosso assists as a medium and an animal trainer in the service of her father.

There's much more to the story, but I'll save that for later!

I don't think they had zippers in that era. D:

If you google Brass Goggles, you'll find a steampunk website. If I remember correctly that tutorial came from there.
