This is a winner request drawn for: Seamonkey-Sama
This is Captain Kathryn Janeway from the television show Star Trek: Voyager. My dad doesn't like Janeway because she's a woman captain, but I think that's just a little bit sexist. It's a starship, not the church or the family. I say if a woman wants to, can be a good leader, and the job is appropriate, then let her lead. Granted, the show pushed a lot of liberal values near its beginning, but near the middle/end, it got back into the old Star Trek groove.

i love watching Star Trek: Voyager.... don't see it on tv now though, or maybe i'm just not seeing it on any of the avaiable channels.... Picard and Janeway were the best! never was keen on DS9, though from time to time i enjoyed watching Stargate SG1....
i love this series so much i wanted a proper made uniform and badge..... never got it though, and definitely not one of those cheap party costumes! x) #TotalNerd

She's a cool character. I think Picard is still my favorite captain, but Janeway was good because she was different.

When I was little and I first started watching Voyager, my dad gave me a whole lecture about how Janeway was a woman and how "we don't agree with that," but I personally think that it's fine if she's a woman captain. It's not why I like her character or the show, but hey, even by Biblical standards, it's fine! I'm not sure where my dad got his idea. Maybe I misunderstood him. Either way, it's a starship, not the family or the church.

I watched voyager when I was little too!!! . . . . . I totally agree, there's nothing wrong with a woman captain *.* . . . . I can see it being a problem if voyager was a church . . . . well, it may be for some series voyager Trekkers XD

No offence, but all the Star Trek series (even the original) pushed liberal values, so what are you talking about? So what is your ethos - people should be pre-judged according to race and sex, etc, and not judged on their own merits and ability to do the job?

I know all the series pushed liberal values most of the time, but the earlier Voyager episode were the most adamant about it, in my opinion. I still like the show, anyhow.
As for your second accusation, I think if you read my description (which holds my thoughts on my father's opinion of Captain Janeway) you'll see where I stand on judging people according to their bodies and not according to their ability to do their job.

Well in general they fail at everything right down to weapons. DS9 tried to be like star wars which was done right
