Description Just when Mr. Burns and his assistant begin settling into their new-found, yet unconventional relationship... trouble is bound to happen right?

Burns has a little more that he can handle when his grandkids are suddenly dropped off into his care; grandkids that he'd never met but only heard mentioned briefly from his long lost son Larry. Perhaps Mr. Burns could instill a bit of refinement in these wild children; if he can ever get any sleep that is...

A fanfic to be written one day by me whenever I get around to finishing the first Burns/Smithers fic. I think this could make a nice sequel or stand alone fic. Knowing me, it's most likely to be Rated-M... just to be safe

- - - - -

The oldest is Marylin (13), the snarky know-it-all that is often brutally honest. Her fashion sense is a bit eccentric. She has Mr. Burns' scowl perfectly.

The boy is Jack (10), the bratty trouble maker. Mr. Burns affectionately calls him Charles Jr. which Jack hates. He has been constantly torturing his older sister with the nickname "Esther" ever since the movie "Orphan" came out since she bares an uncanny resemblance to the psycho-orphan.

Emma (4), is the youngest, is very clingy to Smithers and rarely ever talks. She always seems to have a somber, quiet demeanor. She is also a bit afraid of Mr. Burns.

I know OC's can get annoying and distract from the main characters, but the Simpsons' world is full of one-time characters anyway. Burns' grandkids were mentioned once. Just my view of what they are like.

Thanks! Emma is a little shy, so Smithers was the natural choice to cling to and he's is fine with it! XD They are Burns' grandkids afterall and Emma isn't a brat like the other two. I really want to draw another picture of them soon since I think I've improved since this one was drawn.

LOL No, they're Burns' grandkids and definitely no relation to Smithers. (M-preg confuses me beyond words) From what I've heard on the show, Burns did get around quite a bit in his younger days. There was one episode where Burns had a one-night-stand with a young lady and she got pregnant. When her parents found out they sent her away to a convent (I think) and sent the baby (Larry) to an orphanage. Larry came back to find his father many years later and mentioned that he had children and that Burns was a grandfather.

This is just what I imagined they would be like if Larry dropped the kids off with grandpa for a while. XD Such a shame all those priceless antiques will probably be all broken by the time Larry comes back to pick the kids up.

Too darn cute! I always hope that they'll show more of Smithers with kids; he'd be such a cute, wonderful dad. I've wanted to write something in that vein, but my writing is 'eh' at best.

Marylin reminds me so much of my younger sister. And Emma is just adorable! I love her hair. They all look so perfect.

I really hope to see this story one day! I love your other work, art and writing, too! The problem is that I don't want to spam you with useless comments on all of it.

MonacoMac In reply to StrawberrySeafoam [2012-03-24 03:26:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! From what I've seen, Smithers does seem to do well with kids.

I don't mind. You can comment how ever you want, spam and all. I sort of lost motivation to write for a while since a lot of stuff happened over the last two months and I worry people will get tired of waiting for new chapters. :/ But I do think I am ready to post more soon. As soon as I write about two more chapters of 'Bloodlust and Synergy', it will be complete and the sequel will involve Burns' grandkids. I can't wait so get started on that!

As for you writing, you just have to practice and read a lot until you feel a little more confident. It took me years to get up enough nerve to post a chapter of anything. LOL I'm just glad my first practice fic never saw the light of day. XD

I don't know if you saw the most recent episode yet, but I thought they were going to eat Smithers alive when I found out what his new job was. Sometimes I forget that he doesn't fall over backwards for everyone (only Mr. Burns ). I love to see him stand up for himself.

Haha, thanks! Will do it at some point; I do so love your stuff. And no no, never! I don't care if I have to wait ten years for more, I'd still get excited when I saw you'd written more! Though I hope it's not that long.

I may have to TMI you with this, but it does show how good your writing is with regards to relationships. I'm asexual, and most mature stuff makes me want to puke. It's just so hokey or way, way, way too graphic (for me personally). But I can read through Bloodlust and Synergy without squirming uncomfortably. The sex serves as a means, not an end. I love to read how close Burns and Smithers are becoming, physically and emotionally. The sex is actually very touching!

Sorry if that was TMI , but it's very rare that I come across such sweetness in actual mature content.

Thanks so much! I read a TON, but I haven't written in so long. Hopefully I can improve enough to write something decent for Burns and Smithers one day.

Aw, I missed the new episode again... I miss it almost every week because I forget. I think Fox repeats the most recent episodes on thier official site so I'll have to check it out there. LOL No, you won't have that long to read more since I'm finding time to write more often now and that wasn't TMI at all. I am notorious for rambling on in messages so I don't mind. I'm quiet in real life so I make up for it here on the internet. XD

It is a tough balancing act to write such scenes. My first drafts sound way too trashy, the second edit often sounds way to flowery and poetic like Mom's old romance novels... XD Getting it more in the middle is the key to success. Thanks for the encouragement!

StrawberrySeafoam In reply to MonacoMac [2012-04-01 03:39:30 +0000 UTC]

I thought it would be an episode with a lot of Burns and Smithers; alas, for it having Burns's name in the description, it was not so. There was one cute bit in the very beginning--I love to see either of them dance--but they were mostly props for the episode. And more and more, they're shoving everything stereotypically gay on poor Smithers. I like that he's one of the few gay characters that is neither a total stereotype nor the exact opposite of the gay male stereotype: he can fix cars, fly helicopters, collect dolls, have a fairly-matched fight with Homer, be quite emotional and also quite callous, like some camp music. . .I wish I had his talents!

I'm the same way! I'm always afraid I'm annoying someone in real life, so I very rarely speak. It carries over some on the Internet, though.

You've really done a wonderful job! Now I'm going to have to read over it again! I've been without wireless and am a little nervous about reading it on my parents' computer, but I'm house-sitting now.

MonacoMac In reply to StrawberrySeafoam [2012-04-01 11:33:24 +0000 UTC]

That's what has drawn me to Smithers too. He doesn't go overboard and act all super feminine as the common stereotypes lead people to believe. He seems to be an overall balanced, pretty average guy to me... besides the occasional stereotype shoved at him as you say. XD

LOL, it is hard reading fanfiction without a wireless laptop, in full view of prying eyes. Always someone there to interupt you.

Oh, thank you for this amazing picture. I am completely torn between laughter and some soft and tender feeling I cannot even define. I love the idea of Burns, Smithers and the kids (such a mess!). Both girls are epic win: Marylin really looks like a fem!Monty (it's a pity she won't have her own personal Smithers, or would she?), and Emma is so sweet! (I wonder if she has a Malibu Stacy somewhere in her room, or she is a fan of teddy bears, just like her grandfather is, lol.)

And as for the boy, he's also brilliant, but I can't get one thing out of my mind, so I'd like to ask... Well, to me, Jack Burns looks a like a younger version of Heath Burns from Monster High promo series . Is this done on purpose, or is it just a coincidence? I've been making fun of the idea that Monty Burns is Heath's grandfather for a while (especially when someone calls Heath an arrogant jerk), and now you draw a grandson of Mr.Burns who has the same red hair as Heath and probably a similar personality! "The bratty trouble maker", lol!

P.S. Please excuse my poor English, it is not my native language and I haven't practiced it for a while.

MonacoMac In reply to schtefy [2012-01-27 07:32:42 +0000 UTC]

And thank you for the comment! ^_^ You wouldn't believe how many ideas comments like yours have given me for these characters! The Heath similarities are a surprising coincidence. I looked him up and they so seem sort of separated at birth! XD I like playing up on similarities like that in fanfiction and I might do something with this bit of info in my next fanfic with Jack.

LOL, now I wish I would have drawn Emma with a teddy bear like Bobo.

Don't worry. You type much better English than most on this site that are native speakers! XD

schtefy In reply to MonacoMac [2012-01-27 09:23:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it seems likely! Separated at birth, that's it! Heath must be Jack's long-lost twin! XD Thank you, this idea makes me happy. (OMG, Jack has a monster twin! OMG, Heath has a normie twin! What a mess!)

Lol, that about Emma and Bobo? Shouldn't someone love the poor teddy bear after Mr. Burns replaced him with Smithers? XD

Well, I wish you good luck in writing whatever you are going to write.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonacoMac In reply to schtefy [2012-01-28 02:19:28 +0000 UTC]

I think Emma would take good care of Bobo since she doesn't look like the destructive type.

LOL I actually had a scene in a fanfic where Mr. Burns had a nightmare that Bobo had come alive and was jealous of Smithers. The next night, Burns turned the bear facing the wall so it wouldn't see him snuggling up to Smithers at night!

Thanks, this picture was just a little way to motivate myself into writing about Burns' grandkids.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

schtefy In reply to MonacoMac [2012-01-31 20:40:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, that scene was exactly that I was implying! Your fanfic is nice, definitely one of my top-3 in this fandom, although I cannot bring myself to read the vampire inner story. (I mean, I can imagine Smithers writing something like that, in fact, it fits him perfectly, but it is still hard for me to read it. I guess I am just a little bit prejudiced against vampire stories.)

This picture also motivated me to look forward for this story, because I really liked the concepts of those kids.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonacoMac In reply to schtefy [2012-02-01 02:50:48 +0000 UTC]

That's okay. Burns and Smithers are the important part anyway. Smithers vampire novel was just in there to shock poor unsuspecting Burns just a bit which is most of the fun. XD Besides, I think Twilight might have warn out the theme a little. I'm more a fan of Ann Rice's vampires novels anyway.

Thank you! There are some pretty spectacular writers of Burns/Smithers fics out there and they all seem like such nice people, so that is quite the complement!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

schtefy In reply to MonacoMac [2012-02-11 10:10:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I was also a fan of Ann Rice, 10 or maybe 12 years ago (gosh, I can't be this old, can I?), but I have not read her books since then... or any vampire books. But yes, this topic scares me a little, especially the bloodlust as a base for... the other kind of lust. But Burns' reactions are so funny, I mean, it seems that he has never read a vampire story in his life, or even heard of it.

MonacoMac In reply to schtefy [2012-02-11 11:13:27 +0000 UTC]

Writing Burns' reactions were the most fun! XD He seems so easily shocked by many things and I think the gay theme of the story might shock him more at first that the vampire/horror theme. LOL yeah, I doubt Burns reads many vampire novels.

I found it hilarious how everyone just totally ignored the fact Larry mentioned he had kids.

The thing with OC's is, I think, that they are okay if they are needed, and if the story works well enough.

In something like this, it would be well justified, I think, and we already know they exist.
I doubt Burns would have much patience for children, but he might be interested if they resembled himself and had some talent, that skipped a generation.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonacoMac In reply to Lieju [2011-09-26 23:20:05 +0000 UTC]

You know, I was wondering what Burns' grandkids would be like if he had any. Perhaps it would be interesting if Larry suddenly dropped them off on Mr. Burns, that would really mess up his lavish millionaire's routine! I had completely forgot that Larry really did have children until I re-watched the episode. I thought the grandkids where my idea at first until I heard Larry mention them. By then I already had this whole plot in mind, so I guess I could just call it a convenient coincidence! Now that I think of it, maybe I should have made one of them blond after Larry's mother... Ah~ too late now.

Yeah, I think OC's are okay as long as they enhance the story and not distract from it. Burns is like a demanding, tantrum-throwing kid himself, so I don't think he will deal with them very well at first... if ever! Lol, but if they reminded him of himself, I think he would definitely like that!

I kind of feel sorry for Smithers, because I suspect he would have to take the brunt of all the chaos with the kids.

"Burns is like a demanding, tantrum-throwing kid himself, so I don't think he will deal with them very well at first... if ever! Lol, but if they reminded him of himself, I think he would definitely like that!"
I think he'd like the idea of having kids, but not having to deal with them. Having a tiny version of himself to mold in his own image and someone to carry on his genes and values would appeal to him, but the reality of dealing with children 24/7... No.
Although, seeing how he's rich, he could just pay someone to take care of them and buy a lot of toys for them.

"I kind of feel sorry for Smithers, because I suspect he would have to take the brunt of all the chaos with the kids."
Yeah, he'd definitely end up with most of the responsibility. At least until Burns would decide it interfered with his duties. (And that he'd rather not share Smithers with them)

Waylon, though, I think he'd be great with kids. Mainly because he has the patience for it, and I think he'd like children.

He got along well enough with Lisa and Bart in Mountain of Madness, even though he was in a rather stressful situation himself, and he had suggested in the past that Mr. Burns should have children.
(As we learn in Brush with greatness)

Incidentally, I think it would be amusing/good for the story if the oldest girl would turn out to be the one who most resembles Burns and shows the most promise, given his antiquated views on women.

EEK! You're reading my mind! LOL You give me a lot to think about and that's why I like comments! I haven't given much thought on the planning process of the story yet, but I think it is becoming clearer when you give me so much to consider. Like Mr. Burns not wanting to share Smithers. I must look at the plot from all angles, like what impact certain situations has on people.

Yes! That is exactly how I picture the older girl. She is like a female version of Burns... perhaps more social-liberal like Lisa which could be a point of contention with the two. (Point of Contention? That could be a good title.) She's also not afraid to speak her mind which might come off as a little bit of a smart-ass attitude. You know, she would give Burns a reason to reevaluate his views on women. If it sinks in or not... lol we'll have to see.

I really must re-watch more episodes because I fear one day I might write a story that was already an episode. Gah~ but there are so many to watch and I usually only watch my favs with Burns and Sideshow Bob over and over. I think I will start with the ones you mentioned which I'd completely forgotten about.

Forgive me, but I go on an on sometimes. It helps me sort things out.

"EEK! You're reading my mind!"
No, it's just my army of cyborg ants that spread through the Internet and infest your computer, forwarding any interesting data to me.

"Yes! That is exactly how I picture the older girl. She is like a female version of Burns... perhaps more social-liberal like Lisa which could be a point of contention with the two. (Point of Contention? That could be a good title.)"
Maybe (and I'm just throwing ideas around, feel free to ignore them) he'd first focus on the boy, liking his rebellious attitude (quite like he did with Bart in Burns' heir), and dislike the girl for her views. But despite his efforts, the boy would have no interest in bussiness and no talent for it (you could make the side plotline about what he actually wants to be), and eventually realise that the girl is just as ruthless as he is and appreciate her intelligence, perhaps.

"I really must re-watch more episodes because I fear one day I might write a story that was already an episode. Gah~ but there are so many to watch and I usually only watch my favs with Burns and Sideshow Bob over and over."
I can give you a list of my favourite episodes with Burns, if you'd like. It's easy enough, since I have them on my computer.

"Forgive me, but I go on an on sometimes"
Yes, how dare you have an interesting discussion with me.
