Graeme looked over the edge of his laptop at his new brother-in-law. Kirin was sitting in an adjoining armchair, engrossed in one of Goliath's high-brow books. He and Ariana had only just arrived in Manhattan after spending nearly two years in Japan. The clan was still in shock.

Lucy beeped him on the messager that Graeme had up in a corner of the screen while he worked on his thesis. ~You're laaaaagging....~ she typed.

~Kirin's in here reading ~Graeme typed. ~Everyone else thinks that he only speaks Japanese. He's reading Dickens, for crying out loud!~

~I still can't believe that Ariana married him!~ Lucy tapped back. ~They're so different!~

Graeme snorted and started to reply when Ariana bounced into the room. He glanced over once, blinked, and stared back eyes and mouth open wide. His red-skinned sister was wearing a modified Predator costume -- pieces of armor over a fishnet bodysuit with her hair in dreadlocks.

"So...?" Ariana drawled out cheerfully. "What do you think?" She twirled around. "There's a sci-fi con in town next week, Kirin-ai, and I thought we could go as his and hers Predators." She smirked and posed with her hands on her hips. "You had such fun when I dressed you up as a Predator, remember?"

A low rumbling growl made Graeme blink and the crash of furniture hitting the floor made him jump. Kirin's armchair was lying on its side and Kirin himself was across the room pinning Ariana to the wall. Instead of panicking or punching, his sister gave a low-throated chuckle and wrapped her arms and legs around her mate. The growling only got louder.

"Ari-chan?" Kirin said very deliberately.
"Yes?"
"I absolutely will not tolerate you wearing this in public."
Ariana gave a naughty smile. "Wanna help get me out of it then?"
"Very well," Kirin sighed dramatically, "if I must." He carried Ariana out, still wrapped around his chest like an alien facehugger.

~Then again, Lucy,~ Graeme typed, ~in some ways, they're perfect for each other.~
