Thanks!!! Maybe next winter I'll be able to get a good shot of one. They're completely bright red in winter.

Why thank you so much. I really do enjoy taking pictures of all the little critters. I wish I could get more pictures of outdoor cats. Our cats are strictly indoor cats. There's a gal here on deviantArt that I watch that takes pictures of cats, and apparently where she lives there are lots of street cats. We don't seem to have that many out and about around here.

OK, that's it, I have officially decided I don't like you! All I get is a bird about the size of my Fly Away Little Bird for my cardinals even using my 300mm lens. And then you get a gorgeous close up with a 250mm! It's just not right! :sulks: outs:

Please don't dislike me. I just got lucky. The bird was right outside my kitchen window. Thank you for the nice compliment.

Humph, well, maybe. Yeah, I think it's all luck when it comes to getting photos of wild things! You are welcome.

Yeah, it definitely is luck for me.

Unless you have extreme telephoto, I think all wild life except maybe goobers might just be luck.

Even with Goober, sometimes it takes luck. When I'm out feeding the peanuts to him, he usually grabs one (two if he can) and heads off to stash them. So I've got to be ready, because I never know what direction he's gonna head off in.

I heard that you have better chances if you give them shelled nuts as they tend to eat them right there rather than stash them.

Momma-Cat In reply to RooCat [2008-05-19 13:36:55 +0000 UTC]

That's probably true, because every now and then, I shell a few and they will sit there and eat them. My little black squirrel friend Gus, who got very friendly with me, would actually choose to shell the peanuts and eat them right there by me. I'm too cheap to buy shelled peanuts. Also I figure they need to have some stashed away for winter.

Why? You feed them all winter!

Okay, smart aleck!!! There are times when we're getting alot of snow, that the squirrels won't be out and about, so I just want to make sure they're well fed.

From the looks, you and Tidesend both do a good job judging by both of your chubby squirrels.

Cute Is it molting, possibly? It looks like it's changing color.

In the summer, they lose a lot of their bright red.
