There is excellent accuracy in the construction and articulation of the weapons your dog-like animal posesses. His weapons must be automatics, for there is a substantial pile of bullet casing on the ground. the only inaccuracy that i can see is the amount of casings. now, if the character is sliding as he seems to be doing, he would be moving at rapid speed. therefor, the guns would have to fire at a virtually impossible rate to produce the amount of casings shown. also, the muzzle flash is slightly exaggerated. for there to ba a flash of that magnitude, there would have to be a substantial amount of gun powder, too much for any of todays modern weapons to handle. i must also agree with cyberstormalpha on the analysis of the tail position. it looks quite painful. the most accurate position for the location of the canid's tail is most likely between his legs. i am confused by the contradiction of his outfit as well. he is weaing super-futuristic body armor, yet he has blue jeans and knee pad. maybe you could create a more consistent wardrobe in future deviations. an excellent piece over all. well done. and now that i have completely over analyzed the work, and kevin is probably pissing himself right now bc he knows the flavor of the cool-aid, i think i will shut up. good day to you.

The backgroun is most excellent. I also like the positioning of the canid (fox, perchance?) on the ground. It has the appearence that he had to make a leap and thus couldn't move certain appendages out of the way for comfort (tail looks like he's laying on it, ouchies.) Great articulation with both the pose and the expression. I get the whole, "yippie kaiyaiyay, Motherf*cker!" impression from it. The rifle and side-arm are both well articulated. The clothing is realistic as well.
Really, I can only comment on the tail position. It appears he is trying to slide head-first under the partially-opened door. It also appears to me that he has his weight placed on his right hip. With that being said, it also appears as if his tail is coming from under his right hip. This would be very painful for even the toughest canid, I could see where it may be necessary in a pinch.
All in all, you say it is your first attempt. I've seen people try many, many times without such quality. Don't demean your work because it is merely your first, let it stand for itself. Well done.
