Satyaki also known as Yuyudhana was known to be the fourth greatest bowman in the Pandava army after Krishna,Arjuna and Abhimanyu.
He was a disciple of Arjuna and was a dear friend of Krishna.Arjuna had taught him every single astra-weapon that he had learnt from Drona, Indra and Rudra.
Satyaki’s puissance is greatly praised throughout the Mahabharata, he fought equally with the likes of Drona, Bhishma, Shalya and Karna.

His grandfather Sini in the days of the yore had abducted Devaki from her swayamvara for the sake of marrying her to Vasudeva.Sini had vanquished all the kshatriya warriors who were present there and at the sight of this Somadatta, who was also present there could not brook this act.
A fierce battle ensued between the mighty Sini and Somadatta. The battle lasted for half a day and finally Sini threw down Somadatta. Uplifting his sword and seizing Somadatta by his locks Sini was about to behead him but he only kicked him instead out of compassion and let him live.

This incident marked the bitter enmity between the families of Sini and Somadatta.
With Satyaki ending up killing Somadatta’s son and Satyaki’s arch-nemesis Bhurishravas, Somadatta him-self and his father Valhika in the Kurukshetra war.

Satyaki is definitely one of the most underrated characters in the Mahabharata, though he was one of the most powerful warriors and has played a crucial role in the war by keeping Drona at bay giving time for Arjuna to finish off Jayadratha. In this battle with Drona, Satyaki managed to cut many of his bows every time the preceptor tried to take an aim. And this he did full nine and seven times.
