I must say is stunning photography.
Most images you like or you draw attention but this is the kind that hold the attention, you may be looking a long time without the astonishment of the principle disappears.
The focus centered on the head makes you look at their eyes
make you feel a sense of grief because the lights reflected in them create the effect of tenderness, humility, almost pleading for help, and leg focused further enhances this desire, this attempt to continue.
The position of the kitten on the asphalt also give the feeling of insecurity, fear of walking into an unknown world, alone and unprotected.
Desaturated tone helps to convey the message better.
Although I think would be better if deep noticeable blur some details such as buildings or cars ...
Even so the level is very difficult to achieve ..

I don't think it's necessary to have the added highlights in the eyes. They do well on their own.
