Jehoel (also called Jahoel, Shemuel, Kemual, and Yaoel) is a member of the Angels of Presence, who mediates the ineffable name of God. The name Jehoel may have been an early form of Metatron. Jehoel is said to be the chief angel of the choir of seraphim, and governs heavenly singing. He is responsible for holding in check Leviathan, the monster of evil who will swallow the souls of sinners on Judgement Day.
