I remember my childhood so fondly, those were the days of the “pokemon phenomenon” as it was called back then in the 90s. I wanted to depict a nostalgic shot of a kid in his room surrounded by his digital pokemon friends. I’ve filled this image with nods to classic Pokemon, see if you can recognise them all!
I’ve been meaning for a long time to do a body of work based on designing characters in their rooms, I find it an interesting way to tell a viewer all about that person just by looking around their room. Our rooms are filled with things we love, our achievements, family photos, snaps of where you’ve been, etc, so their a great way to show what kind of person someone is.

interesting input, I did actually think it looked like a nuke when I was doing it ha ha. I wanted to exaggerate the brightness to give a more dream or memory type of look to the image, like it dosent exist in reality. The Tv glow may be useless though, I just think it looks nice.

I really love the way you shaded the room - the high contrast appeal really makes me remember how even on the greatest and most beautiful of summer days when I could be outside playing football or going fishing... I spent inside playing Pokemon. I never really liked pokemon in any form: the animation, toys, games, etc. and this piece makes me feel bad about it.
The artist captures the spirit of the childlike wonder many people feel when they fall in love with the series, and brings it to life with ease. the clear metaphor with the picture is how real the pokemon can be in the eyes of a child. The pokemon in the art been outlined with a florescent blue, giving them an aura of surrealism and imagination. looking at the various tchotchkes, knick-knacks, and posters, it's easy to see that pokemon is apart of the child's life, not just as a pastime, but a passion. he's fallen in love with the lore and customs of the pokemon universe, and it feels as real to him as anything else. it shows how the imaginative minds of a child can become so engrossed in their interests, that they dedicate themselves to it. in the context of the picture, the boy has the same cap Ash had in the animation, he has cards scattered on his desk, next to a belt adorned with pokeballs, there are pokeballs stashed in his backpack, and his wall is covered with posters featuring box-art from the games, the back of the trading card, even a picture of the mural from the animation, of the original 4 legendary pokemon. the boy in the art has a deep love for the series, and it makes me jealous that I've never had that kind of experience when i was a child.
seeing this piece makes me want to pick up a pokemon game, hoping that i'll be immediately drawn into it, and have the sort of experience as the child pictures
admittedly, i am biased towards the artist, but for good reason. she was one of the first artists to make me frequent DA, and one of the primary reasons i even made an account. I've loved her art, and seen her go from simple comics about sonic the hedgehog, to beautiful works of art like the one you're viewing now. i pity anyone who isn't aware of the sheer talent the artist possesses, and i pray that she gains the recognition she truly deserves.

Ninetales is best pleading puppy. Also Vaporion seems to plea for some belly-rubs.
Also, Raichu seems really cozy among all those toys. A big surpriced he would have Pikachu toy as well considering pokemon yellow and the anime where Pikachu isn't a fan of evolving.
