I've actually got a story for something like this.
On one of my AU worlds there are humans who discovered a Necrontyr ship and accessed it, and they then discovered it was from another universe and had been stranded for countless eons. As they delved deeper they discovered a single living entity, a unaltered necron of the once depraved race.
So i then got this awesome idea, the necron and human hybrid race called Necri, they developed a special bond of the two races and became this hybrid species that could utitlise necron weaponry.
Well the story needs some clean up, but yeah, this falls along the lines, considering i have a pariah that's covered in skin and drinks coffee and i think she wants to kick my ass for being a pervert.
And her name is Ana. (Too Generic?)

That's better left to the really good writers, true. Really all I did in this case was take the established idea of the character and illustrated it. There may be more there in the way of backstory for her, but I wouldn't be the man to ask.

I feel like I can't walk away without doing at least something. First and foremost, nano-machines are microscopic machines, so that doesn't work.
We can rule out that she's sided with the Tau. Only the Earth Caste builds things, and the Fire Caste fight things. When the Necrons go to war, they always phase out at some point. That includes any and all bits of scrap metal that blew up (meaning, Necron technology has never been captured).
She can't be a Pariah either. All captured flesh beings become Pariahs and they are fairly mindless and zombie-like. They wouldn't build much. I doubt the Necrons would allow captured prey to build for them (like the Dark Eldar) because they're considered too imperfect.
I'm sure her being drowned and slowly being turned into a Pariah with a smile is unacceptable.
There's only one explanation possible. Inquisitor Ralei from the book Xenology was actually the C'Tan Deceiver. He likes morphing into other races (particularly human) and playing with them. He had a human assistant, Darvus, working on experiments and seeing the weaknesses of the other beings. And apparently Darvus had a particular liking to a Necron.
In that same sense, we could have something similar here, only a Tau in nature. A secret spy or agent working for the Deceiver, even having received mechanical implants.
