I think the background is nice and moody. Combined with the contrast of the girl, I get a kind of red riding hood kind of sense about the piece.
I think you could have matched the hue and saturation of little pink riding hood too her surroundings (further than you already did) AND maintain the contrast that you were pretty plainly trying to achieve. Maybe cutting out the shirt while desaturating the rest of her would have been worth trying.
Compositionally, I think it's great. The only thing that might have added to it is if the sunbeams focused more toward the girl instead of a random location. You were probably stuck with them from the BG though.
