judging from the page widths on both sides, and his slightly surprised expression... I'd say he's at the part where ron left the tent or at the part with the silver doe.

Yes, that could probably be true. The book hadn't actually come out when I made the drawing so it was hard to know what part he would be reading and what expression he should have.
