Description Just one moment can change your presence,
change your future, change your past.
Only one word can kill your heart and crush your soul.
Reality--
Reality? More cruel it cannot be.

The day his existence vanished, my time has stopped.
And every face that looks at me,
every voice that speaks to me,
is unseen and unheard by me, like I am by him.
And as he stopped breathing,
my destiny was carved in stone.
So I continue endlessly,
pursuing your receding figure,
forbidden to remember, terrified to forget.
Never could the heart endure,
what the mind's not believing yet,
never will those words arrive to the deepest,
because your memory doesn't want to be
turned into something unbearable.

But the time will come,
when this killing truth eats itself through the repressed streams,
and the numbing haze, which are my feelings
- torn up to pieces, frail and worthless
if compared to what they were.

The day you perished, our love drowned in blood and tears.
Insight finally reaches my very heart,
thus it sees that you aren't with me,
that you did exist and that I have lost you.

Then, my heart will finally join yours,
for it's not able to endure the beat no more.

I can imagine NANA feeling how you have discribed it here after hearing Ren had died.
I love your poem, really discribes the feeling of losing a loved one.

I can still remember reading the manga, and when Ren had died I couldn't believe it, until Yasu told NANA 'Ren is dead'.
All I could do was cry I couldn't read further for a few minutes. So sad.

Oh, that's... beautiful! Really moved my heart (again), although I usually don't understand poetry and all that staff (I'm quite... heartless sometimes ._.).

You wrote it in that way which Yazawa-sensei uses to make us all cry...

Omg I've been wanting to write a poem like this but the words didn't up, I couldn't explain and describe the miserable feeling I had when Ren died and I saw everyone's reaction. You did a great job!!

The poem also has an awesome start, the whole "reality" thing basically explains NANA. That's what the whole manga is about. And about how you CAN endure it, or how IT can destroy you and your future.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate you reading it and comments like this, especially on this thing, but I wouldn't call it a poem (it was supposed to be one though) it has hardly any rhymes..

Anyway, yah.. I think you got Nana quite right in the meaning, it's really showing of reality as a hard thing, (which it actually is in this case). The problem is that you're able to endure it, so you're damned to suffer.

So, thank you a bunch (for the fav. as well)

You're very welcome
Oh I think it IS poetry. Free-verse poetry. My poems hardly EVER rhyme haha.
Yeah, right? I felt that I made a good philosphical-ish understanding of Nana after I wrote that!
Again, you're welcome

i love your choice of imagery! "our love drowned in blood and tears" and "my destiny was carved in stone" that's exactly how i imagined nana, who actually lived through Ren a lot of the time (wearing the same clothes, smoking the same cigarettes) felt, empty, without a purpose and without a leader, i like how you put it as her having no destiny without ren <3 thanks i'm currently crying my eyes out about that chapter :'( Hachi should have been the one to tell her i think she might have been less harsh

Yes, exactly! I'm more than glad that someone actually likes it. Thanks a thousand times. I was crying too.

Hehe, besides, I've changed my mind. It's better if Yasu tells her, 'cause she used to go to Yasu if she had anything on her mind, so it's okay. And yes, he's probably a bit.. direct, but there are really no words to possibly save her.

true, and coming to think about it too (LOL) Ai Yazawa made Misato go with him to show how Hachi would have acted with nana.. so I guess Yasu really was the better choice, the other best person who could have gone would be Ren but...he can't possibly tell her :'( ... Yasu had to be direct i guess...
