My entry for 's 'Candyland' contest. It gave me an excuse to draw my two OCs, Haruko and Tsukiko, together. Haruko is on the left and Tsukiko is on the right.You can find the contest here: [link]

The drawing is very good. I like the face shapes, poses, and background.
Also, the way you shaded was very good. You found the right places for the shadows like how they would be in real life.
The mouths also had so much detail. They were extremely well done, and the overall face was great!
The only thing i suggest is that you put more detail into the eyes. Right now the eyes look sort of hollow and deadish(?). I don't mind it but I think the drawing would look even better with more detail in the eyes.
Besides that, I loved it!

Any suggestions on how to make the eyes better? To me adding pupils looks weird in some cases so I tend not to draw them.

I agree with you on the pupils. To me it looks sorta demented when I try. I would suggest using a gradient and having the color fade from dark to light. I do this because this give they eyes way more detail without the freaky-pupil look. I also use two highlights, one larger highlight where it would normally be, and one in the opposite corner. Im going to post a how to draw a anime girl eye thing soon anyway so ill show the highlight thing in there incase that was too complicated/confusing sounding. Hope that helped! bye!

Ah I normally do add the high lights like that, at least on my digital works. And I have shaded the eyes a little bit (or tried to). It might be hard to see though.

Idk if this will be helpful but when I'm shading I do a really extremely light layer then i do a really dark, ( a darker shade or pressing as hard as I can), bar at the top or the eye. Then I do layers that get darker and darker as I go up.
I hoped that will help for the shading of they eyes to stand out.
