Description I accidentally another Yuuya. And this time he's... human?

I decided that I needed an ICPSS Yuuya to go with my fantail version, but I knew that neither way that I normally do hair would work; Yuuya's hair is too fine for the chunky crochet hair to look good, and there are too many spikes (not even counting that double ahoge... @_@) for it to look right if I just did loose yarn hair.

Well, this is what I came up with. It started as loose yarn hair (attached via a different method than I usually use because of reasons), then I brushed that out into a floofy mess. Then I styled the floofy mess with water and hair gel. This is the first time I've tried doing anything like this, so I really had no idea what I was doing. XD But I think it turned out pretty well!

Thanks!

Also, I'm thinking of using this style of hair for a chibi Asch doll to replace the one you stole from me that I donated to the club.

...Actually, I think I'd better make three Asch dolls for each style of hair that I do. Because I want to make tutorials on how to make my hair, of course. Not because I'm obsessed or anything.

lol - yeah... I keep hoping that more people will enter but I have a feeling the contest has reached it's conclusion... and without even getting a quarter of the way there. So very disheartening. Once I'm done with the chaos that is NaNoWriMo I'll have to look into wrapping it up.

No! Of course not! I mean who in their right mind would want an army of Asch dolls? omgmepickmepickmeiwantsooooobaaadddddd

I can see several reasons why people have stopped submitting entries... One would be that the club is very specific within a game that is already pretty niche, so not many people are going to be as interested as lets say, a general club for the newest Zelda game. Which is really unfortunate, seeing as you have consistently offered the best prizes of any club I'm currently a member of. Another reason might be because people just forgot. I know I certainly did... >.> Maybe if you updated the journal more to remind people that the contest is still in progress, people would be more likely to go "Oh yeah!" and join in? You might also want to pitch the contest to other Tales groups and see if they'd advertise for you, since your prize list isn't entirely limited to just being about Luke and Asch, and it might drive more people to joining the club who just didn't know it existed until this point.

Haha, well, I'll get to my Asch army as soon as possible. But first I need to make an army of pigeons. B-because someone commissioned me for them of course. <.< And it's not like I'm just going to remake all of them once I sell them either. >.> Because that would just be weird. <.<

Oh, yay! I saw this on tumblr and have been wondering ever since how you got the hair to stay put. Now I know!

He's super cute! Thank you for sharing your picture of him, and also for sharing how you did the hair!

Why didn't you just ask on tumblr?

And thanks and you're welcome.

You know, I'm not really sure why I didn't think to ask on tumblr. Sometimes my common sense just decides to shut off...

I tried hair gel on an ami I made this weekend, and it turned out really well, so I'm really glad I came across this!

Thanks!

I'm thinking of using this method the next time I make an Asch doll.

What type of yarn and brush did you use for the hair? It looks really nice. And did you embroider the glasses on? It looks really neat!

The yarn is just regular old cheap acrylic, though I've heard it works with wool as well (and if you use wool, you could probably style it by needle felting it... ). The brush I used is a wire pet brush. You can find them in the pet section of most department stores.

As for the glasses, they aren't embroidered, but I don't really know what to call it. I lay the yarn over the surface of the doll in the shape that I want, and then I use a similar color of thread to sew the yarn down in place. I've had a few people ask me now how I do my "embroidery," so now I'm thinking about making a tutorial, along with tutorials for the three ways I make hair. Would you be interested in that?

Yeah. Though I think I know what you're talking about with the embroidery portion. I use red heart yarn a lot, so that's fine by me! No fancy wool here!
