Description Angelica (My Final Prayer)

Darling jaded Angelica, can you hear me call?
Can you hear me from heaven; can you hear at all?
Is the sky blue life up there treating you so kind?
Sometimes I wish to join you and leave this world behind.

Oh Angelica, you cried so much before you had to leave
Was dying really the only way to save your sanity?
Angelica you’d died of a heartbreak I’ll never understand.
You were already dead inside, though I was there to hold your hand.

Oh my stained Angelica, with your tainted soul,
Have angels bathed you tenderly and filled your growing hole?
In heaven do emotional wounds show like cuts then bleed?
And is anyone up there giving you the bandages you need?

Have they wiped the dirt of heartbreak yet so far away?
Are you beautiful again my love? Can you stay that way?
Has heaven purified you so that you’ll never hurt again?
Is it really a new beginning, or…is it just the end?

Angelica, do you miss me, up in the sky so free?
When it rains down on the earth, is that you crying for me?
I won’t accept that you’re gone, I need you around.
Leave the angels, leave the sky, comeback to the ground.

Oh ravaged Angelica! Why couldn’t I have healed you?
You hurt so much inside; there was nothing I could do
Have you gone away from me to rid yourself of tears?
I can be your heaven, please, I can’t live without you near!

Angelica, do you answer pleas from people everywhere?
Could you forget others for a while, and give my thoughts your care?
I want you back my love, my dear, tell me you didn’t die.
I want you to erase that day that we had to say goodbye.

Can the dead not converse with the living people here?
If not, than why should I have to endure even one more year?
Angelica, I’ll join you soon, wait for me up there.
God, deliver my soul to Angelica; that is my final prayer.

I've always liked the name Alice. My parents aren't very fond of it, but I love the ring it has. And for some reason I love the name Chelsea.

this fits my life right now i didnt lose someone to death but i lost a true love to some mistakes that i made of being uncertain about my beliefs. the girl i loved has now turned her back on me and acts as if i dont exist so to me its like a death. Very well done now i only wish i could write that well.

Wow. Amazing poem. It's hard to find melancholic pieces that aren't so indulgant and self-absorbed This poem really brings out the desperation of loving someone who's gone, and you've done it so very well! Thanks for sharing this piece

this absolutely blew my mind. i love it. i really dont know what to say, its breathtaking, there are no words. sorry for my lack of originality, but i really cant explain how much i liked this, it almost made me cry (haha im such a wimp)

(of blue an grey. strange, we ran down desperate streets and carved ourn names in the flesh fo the city. the sun has stagnated somewhere beyond the rim of the horizon and the darkness is a mystery of curves and lines. still, we lay under the emptiness and drifted slowly outwaard, and somewhere in the wilderness we found salvation scratched into the earth like a message.)

I'm sorry to sound like a broken record but this was amazing. The line "I can be your heaven, please, I can’t live without you near!" really hit me and stuck. that just communicates the whole point of the poem to me. This poem also shows the aftermathh of suicide, i mean, maybe thats just how i interpreted it but it seemed like "Angelica" was so depressed she killed herself and the loved one she left behind is now the one depressed and hurting. And even if you meant it in a natural death sense, the point is, you captured the emotions of one who has lost someone dear to them, and that in itself is beautiful

Miseria-Cantare In reply to vodkafromtheheart [2004-09-05 05:27:18 +0000 UTC]

I'm very glad you liked my poem. The method of death isnt actually specified in the poem, but I meant it as suicide or just wasting away b/c you're so depressed. so yes, you're right. It is about the feelings of a person left behind.
THank you for taking the time to credit.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. I like the way it sways from simple sadness to an almost haunting atmosphere. It a powerful piece, the constant repetition of her name only adds to it and it seems to call out to the reader to listen and understand what the writing is going through. Beautiful piece as i've already said.
