It's amusing to see what hearing people think about this simple sign that speaks for itself... I'm profoundly deaf and I had this sign on the property of my home.
The colors and the angle are beautiful though.

Heh, I am Deaf, totally 100% Deaf. 
This really bothers me because I never saw those kind of signs until I went to Gallaudet (Deaf friendly University). True there isn't a lot of those signs from where I came from. I guess there never were a reason to set em up.

Not only crossing the streets, but also when a deaf kid is riding his bike, they don't know wether there is a car driving behind them.
I work in a school for deaf children, and I really understand how important it is to have those signs. although I don't really like them, they can be so demeaning (or how do you say that in english?)

i see those sometimes, they make me kinda sad. like way do you need to single Deaf people out like that? But i guess if it's a little kid that forgets to look both way before crossing the street it makes sence

I saw a sign like that near my neighborhood (and by that I mean a few blocks away) that's near some housing projects and has been there since 1990. The kid moved, too. My dad keeps talking about getting one where we live, since I'm hard of hearing.
I think I hear what others don't see... that may just be the sleep deprivation, though, lol.

I'm hard of hearing *half deaf* most schools I goes to are public school... I have interpeter to convert your message to sign language.
Hard of hearing is very hard on me when I'm losing my ability to hear. *Cochlear doesn't have a good quality. I wearied it.*
