fan art for the wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i lost my blender so i couldnt do any "blending", Valixy's front legs are too long, and the background is too light.... damn scanner *knaws on it* and yes, for a fanart (for me anyways) this is a lot, but i dont care. i just felt like doing a lot :3 the shading also sucks.... my fav part of the whole thing, is her face, i like the shading on it. the picture looks sooooooooo much better in real life... i hope you like it *Valixy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!P.S: i cant draw trees to save my life.... >.>

Something you might try (this works fairly well with coloured pencils and chalk, but not much else (in my opinion)) is to create shadows using the opposite colour of what you are shading. Oh-so clear, ne? What I mean is: Should you be shading orange fur, you might add shading using a blue pencil (lightly). The theory is that the eye blends the two and creates a darker shade of the colour. This technique takes a bit of practice to make it look right, but once you've got it it looks more... realistic. I also find it works better when shading a warm colour using a cool colour. *shrug* You could try it, I never really got the hang of it much, but there are some incredibly talented people who use this (not to mention that they try to teach it in art classes a lot...)
