The last refuge in the dark, seems more foreboding than welcoming but that may have been the idea.

it looks nice at first glance, but it seems like u haven't spent too much time with it. for one obvious thing, u didn't put any rim lights on the tower when there's such a strong light source behind it

hey thanks! I know it's kinda poor of detailing work, but inexperienced as I am, I work a lot of hours to achieve this result, and I was soo sick of working on this piece that i've published it as soon as it seemed decent xD

+1 to Aspiringartist, the foreground needs some highlight to be better understood. Or a lighter tone for the sky, if you want to keep the idea of a shadow.

This is pretty great! You could maybe try to put more contrast into it and add something in the front (like another rock or maybe a withered tree?) that way you would get eve more depth.
But for your first digital painting it's really really good

nicely done, however I think there should be some soft highlight on the mountian from the direction of light sourse.
I think it would "pop" more.
